Well I had originally left for Rick's about 9AM and at about Noon-thrity I was headed out once again on my other Suzuki 650. I decided to change my route and hit the super-slab to make up for lost time but by the time I got out to Tryon I made the switch over to twisty back roads.

Lunch at Green River BBQ in Saluda.

I didn't even bother trying to get any corner pics but here's a shot of Canton down in the valley below.

I relented and snapped a few on the flys as I headed towards Hot Springs.

A typical hillbilly shack.

I can't say that I blame anyone for vacating this place, I wouldn't want to live that close to the road either.

My on the fly barn shots sucked...sorry

A quick pit stop in Hot Springs before heading out to the cabin.

What's a guy supposed to think when he shows up at a party and the host is loading magazines?

I think he should be smart and mind his manners.

I suck at getting good pics of people but here's a few from when I pulled in on Friday.

And just a few from Saturday's ride that was led by ktmMike (far right) he knows the area better than the back of his hand and rides like the wind!

Snakes were everywhere!!

This is where we stopped for the broken KLR shifter.

Hunter struggling to keep up with fancy..

The unshakable and always ready with spare parts Simpson.

fancy's still in the lead?

I should have taken some time to crop out my top case...

Hotdog break.

Gratuitous flower pics.

The AT (appalachian trail) goes right down the sidewalk in Hot Springs

Later Saturday after the group ride....some wet DOGs rolled in.

We finished our ride before the rain and light rain that evening turned into heavy rain overnight....then let up to sprinkles as most packed up camp.

advtenn

redone broke his ankle on Friday and Beefjerky volunteered to put his bike in the van and drive him back to Texas.

Wet Sunday morning.

redone...just hopping along... Let's all wish him a speedy recovery!

This morning after the rain took a break and we went back to work cleaning up.

Thanks again Rick!! and Chef Kevin too!!

I didn't get many pics heading home today (none worth posting) Even though I managed to stay out of any steady rain until I was a mere mile from home! I had the camera packed up for most of the ride anyway.

Have you been to Biker Mecca?

Before it was "mecca" to the rest of the world it was a tradition for us, a rowdy gang that I affectionately refer to as "the old guys from work"

And being that we only live a couple hunnert miles away from the "Dragon" these guys don't feel like "real motorcyclists" unless we've been there at least once in a year's time.

This past weekend was our annual pilgrimage, here's a few of the things we seen along the way.

Yes, it still looks like summer time here in the SE US...I think these trees are just dead..kinda like the house itself.

You just can't make this kind of pilgrimage on an empty stomach!

Does anything seem unusual here to you?

After lunch we had a chance meeting with mdrake, who's face can't be shown to you right now.
because this is the only pic I took of him Saturday

Same old, same old....Looking Glass Falls.

Believe me, you wouldn't want to meet these guys in a dark alley!

...but by day they are tourists....

...just like everybody else on a Saturday around here.

What the heck...one more of the waterfall.

I may or may not have had to pass on double yellow, I'll never tell.

Cold Mountain, NC....didn't they make a movie there?

Yep, you guessed it
we're back on the BRP

We're not alone

A "fly-by" shot of the falls below Graveyard Fields.

This is how we roll!

Lots of green means lots of excuses to keep going back looking for more color.

OK...just who is taking a pic of whom?

I would like to close this post with a moment of silence for the recent loss of "dual sport heaven"

You see, the NFS has closed off nearly 100 miles of great unmaintained 4x4 roads here in the past year or so.

CLICK HERE to see a sample of what once was.

The loss of Caney Fork has me bummed out

....maybe it's time to stop and smell the flowers.

It was still looking more like Spring than Fall even up high on Saturday....that should change very soon though as the frost nipped this area the next night.

We stopped at plenty of overlooks along the way....

...and fulfilled our tourist duties.

Fashion statement?

Old guys do seem to wonder off into the bushes quite a bit.

It was a ragtop day.

That concludes our BRP portion of the pilgrimage.......more to come.
