Even though new bikes are the biggest displays...every once in a while someone like a tire vendor will showcase an old classic.

Jon and I contemplating making the switch from Team Suzuki and going Blue.

He was pleasantly surprised to find that he could 'touch ground' on the Super Tenere.

......and my lust for the mighty TW has been well documented already!

...something's missing here but, I just can't quite put my finger on it.

On the far Eastern end of the track is where all the custom bike builders and cruiser vendors set up shop.....

Taking pics with an overcast sky has always been a bad thing for me.....the shots suck but, since when has that ever stopped me?

Then suddenly it appeared....quite possibly the sweetest bike in Daytona.

Yep, here she is! The 'Best of Show'!!

You don't even have to be a 'car guy' to like a rat-rod.

.....maybe that's why it's on display at bike week?

Meanwhile back at camp........

I don't know how the word got out? ....but this DDS rider recognized me and knew of my penchant for TeeDubs and brought it over for me to ride!! uuno

Thanks mang! That was fun!

Sine I had a 5 day wristband that gave me access to everything going on at the speedway during that time including the big races... I decided to go scope out the track during practice and figure where we may want to setup to watch the main events later that evening.

They even had a few old schoolers on display in the fan zone.

The track itself was huge! zig-zagging it's way back and forth covering the entire grassy area in front of the main grandstand!

Thought I might catch a good holeshot.....but since this was just practice I guess there was no need to get all tangled up.

There were three different types of soil used to build the track....the sections were very evident by color.

These next two are just to try and give a feel for how big the track was.....compared to an indoor supercross anyway.

Back down to the finish line jump to watch the 250s put on a show.

...more later....they actually want me to do some work here today.

Thanks....I know you're just being nice though.

..also I'll go ahead and apologize now for the extra bandwidth this installment will cost you before it's finished.

It's supposed to be nice weather up your way so my hopes are to maybe do another RDV scout run on Monday!

Some more shots from the finish line jump during the 250 practice.

Notice the dark skies? That's looking towards the ocean....the direction the showers kept rolling in from.

'ol #1 was untouchable in both of his races later that night!

Maybe his plan was to psyche out the competition in practice.

Next up was what was supposed to be just a quick trip through the garage area........

.....but this......

......suddenly turned into this.

But I snuck in a couple more shots.
