Checking out a golf course community that never quite got of the ground.....yet.

Not sure if it's gonna take off and soar like an eagle or if the buzzards will get it....

Home Sweet Home...my dogwoods and azaleas are getting cranked up into full bloom now.

Here's kind of a strange thing on my Strom

Last year my left mirror started to rattle real bad, very annoying. It didn't seem loose but there was definitely something inside so I decided to take it off and drill a couple of holes in the bottom and pump some silicone caulk into it in hopes of quieting it down. That worked, kinda...some of you have seen that I put too much in and cracked the glass.

But it was fine, I could still see out of it just fine and it stopped rattling. Well that rattle came back not long ago and the glass cracked some more...to the point it was junk.

Look what I found when I dug all the bits of glass out.

It was full of foam..like seat cushion foam from the factory, the black stuff is the caulk I pumped in.

None of that is so unusual but wtf is going on here?

That big ol chunck of metal was just in there loose...just pressed against the glass by the foam.

Certainly that's not supposed to be in there is it?

Those old Zuk mirrors are not the greatest anyway. Kevin, you now have the perfect opportunity to replace them with mirrors that are way more cool like these or these or even these.

Thanks guys.

btw...I found an old rusted chrome Honda mirror that works just fine.

Also...the RDV thread has been re-opened with the blessings of Rick's family and has been re-named Rick's Rendezvous.

So back to the business of ride scouting......

Leavin' my shack @ 10 AM today and headed for the hills along the border of NC/VA....the weather could not have been any nicer.

This is where I first see dirt on my commute to Laurel Springs aka rally central.

Meadow Fork has been scouted previously but will see it's rally debut in '12

Cheek Mtn was first scouted this past Jan....google thinks it's a dead end.

Grader and dump truck season is in full swing early this year....seen lots of fresh gray granite marbles today.

Many trees have begun to bud even at this elevation....weeks early.

Wandering these hills just feels like home.

Yep...paint on the road, that means this is a main highway.

We won't stay there long.

Piney Post Office will be a repeat....but riding in the opposite direction often provides all new scenery....

That guy lowered his head and took a run at me as I rode by!
