Triumph Scrambler Exhaust Thread

Over at the Triumph Rat Forum theres a "Handlebar" thread, containing pictures and personal reviews of just about any bar your can think of, which I've found super useful come swapping out handlebar time. It's a nice "go-to" when in the market, and much simpler than digging through a full thread that can have over a thousand pages

Heres vids of various exhausts....

Shark System

Arrow

D&D (w/ NARK)

TOR's

British Customs Predator's

ZARD

Stock "Bafflectomy"

Norman Hyde

Thunder Bike Performance Mufflers

I know it's really hard to get a real life sound with clips like these, but for looks and sound(and if I were spending your money) the Zard is great! That said, spending my money, I am happy with my baffle-ectomy.

agreed. When looking for these clips, the quality varied dramaticly. A pipe sounding great in one clip sounded like garbage in another. Do you have a link to a walk-thru for anyone looking to attach their stock pipes?

Sorry, I don't quite understand your question. Do you want to know how to do a baffle-ectomy?

Baffle-ectomy is pretty easy, and there are two ways to do it.

I took my mufflers off and went to a muffller shop and had them use a chop saw to cut the ends off just enough that the roll-over that holds the baffles in was removed. Used a pair of vice grips to brake the spot welds that held the baffles in and pulled them out. Put mufflers on and job is done.

Easy peasy, cost was $5.00 donated (which the muffler guy didn't even want to take, but it was easily worth it to me, as I have never cut, drawn, welded, or sawed a straight line in my life), and the sound is pretty much as loud as an old Honda twin with the baffles out.

The other way is to use a hole saw just under the diameter of the roll-over and cut the baffle loose, then repeat the above with vice grips.

I like the sound now, but people have drilled extra holes (using an extended bit) in the remaining baffle in the muffler for more noise.

No changes in jetting were required - plug colors are fine. Prolly no real gain in power, but the sound is nice.

I have the TORS and I love them. But I stay up at night thinking about the Zard.

Man , I lust over the Arrow pipe but the $1000 price tag is a a little steep for my budget. I'm pretty happy with the stock pipes with bafflectomy. Sounds good but I dont care for the look of the stock heat shields.

I might spring for a set of D&D's someday. I want to hear them in person first. Videos on the net seem to lose something.

I dig the arrow too, but the entry price is steep. I'm taken with the D&D sound. I've probably watched that bid above of the guy on the stripped down scrambler with the D&D's at leat 50 times by now.

I don't think there is a 'best' pipe.
Probably all are good, maybe some better than others.

To me, its how you want your bike to look.

Stock, classic, dessert, outlaw, flat track, chopped, etc.

A lot of different looks to be had. The pipe is just one of many farkles to get your desired look.

Sound clips are awful, but hey, its a start.

Have fun with upgrades!
