90 R100GS is it for me?

Currently riding wr450 (off-road enduro) and have been looking for a two up capable bike that my wife and I can.... 1. ride at least 50% off-road (the reason in the first place) 2. carry on a reciever mounted rack (no trailer) 3. simple, rugged bike that we can do minor repairs on and 4. see if off-road adventure riding is our game. The bike is fairly stock, clean and seems to run well. Owner has maint. records for review and has replaced/renewed trans, clutch, swingarm bearings. $4200.00 Any comments would be great. thank, mark

My thoughts:

(1) if you mean fireroad/double track, then yes. Serious offroad? Rocks and soft sand? Doubtful.

(2) doubtful. Bike must weight over 500#. That would be tough on any receiver rack I've ever seen.

(3) yes definitely.

(4) I would think so.

$4,200 sounds like a decent price. Total mileage? Driveshaft renewal?

Hi John,

I've got a 1990 R100 GS/PD and I love it but...
keep the WR450 for wheelies and flying thru the air ;)

The R100GS weighs around 500lbs so would not be advisable on a rack mount.
As said above, not advisable on rough single track or sand....but you wouldn't reallywant to do that 2 up anyway.
Get an inexpensive trailer and go for it.
