As others have said, just getting to the starting line is half the battle.

Where there is a will there is a way

Just got on the thread. Good luck and sorry to hear about your foot.

I raced Dakar last year after breaking my leg at Morocco, so I only had 9 weeks recovery. That meant that I didn't ride my bike at all from the day of the fall to the start of the race. I felt great through the first 2 stages but didn't manage to finish the 3rd although I beleive it was more to do with lack of experience than the break so I know you will do well. Just make sure you keep up the fitness!!

Jenny, you shouldn't have taken the phrase "break a leg" too seriously!
Good luck on your road to recovery

Hi Jenny, just followed your link from the Tenere thread.... total respect to you for having a go at the Dakar.... best of luck to ya.
Shame about your foot hope it heals quick.

I did the Tunisie in 1996 & considered the Heroes Legends this year, had a long chat with Clive earlier in the year about it, but I had an operation on my shoulder in April which is just about back to normal now so probably best I didnt.... the fact I've put about 2 stone on since April wouldn't of helped either I'm a bit long in the tooth for this rally stuff now anyways (53).

Dunno where you are in the UK, but if you need any help with transport or whatever give me a shout... be happy to help & let me / us know when you've sorted out the donations, support, t.shirts, whatever...I'll be happy to drop a couple hundred quid in the kitty. I spent several thousands in '96 so it must be costing ya a bleedin fortune to do this one.

Best wishes & heal fast

Hi Geoff! - thanks for getting in touch - glad you found this thread too!

I'm currently in the USA until the end of the week, but once I get back to the UK I am really hoping to get this supporters package happening quickly now, as not only will it be a great way of getting you guys involved and feeling part of the project, but I hope yo raise some useful funds too, and not least get some extra PR for the sponsors involved... as you can imagine, it's tricky making transatlantic phone calls (not least due to the 8 hour time difference) while I'm here...

I hope to have a dedicated website up and running too in the next couple of weeks - still thinking of a team name... it might have to be: "Left Foot Racing" now eh?!

Anyways, thank you again for your kind offer of support - as I say, my intention is to have a package of nice kit along with a team shirt for sale, so you guys are getting something other than an enormous sense of well-being for helping out with my latest ruse!

Toot toot for now - I'm off to see the Osteopath tomorrow morning!

Jenny xx

Hi Rick!

Yes, I heard about that incident on the Maroc - I was with Patsy at the time on Heroes-Legend and we crossed near Zagora of course...

By all accounts, that infamous 'third day' on the Dakar last year was a bastard for most people, so I wouldn't feel too bad... but I agree, your best chance of finishing is to be fit and healthy and well prepared... even then, it's sometimes not enough!

Hope you get to the start line again one day!

Jenny xx

Duuude! We'll make it a date then!

I'm hoping Patsy (@ Desert Rose Racing .com of course) will have sorted out all the accommodation details prior to the event starting - I think the plan is to be there around the 28th December for customs etc and prep before scrutineering... let's keep in touch through PM and sort something out!

For those that don't know, it was Drfakoo who is the reason I now have a very tasty WR450 with a JVO kit fitted - it was his thread about their 'rally light kit' last year that inspired me to go for the WR!

Rock on! Toot toot, fun fun (even!), and F**k yeah!
