Well, my first RIDES were on my uncle's Honda Trail 90 in the 1960's.

But my first VERY OWN bike was right after my birthday (my 55th one) in 2007:

My first was a Rupp minibike, tiny wheels, lawnmower engine. But, this 1970 (I think that was the year) Honda CL100 was my first "real" motorcycle. Took the chain guard off, the turn signals had to go, removed the fork boots, and put a Preston Petty front fender on it. Then, some knobbies and man, I had me a full blown dirt bike, or so I thought.... I rode it until it fell apart!

Safety gear was unheard of back in those days.

My first was three years ago, a 2000 BMW K1200RS. This was literally right after we took it off the shipper's truck.

My first bike was stolen and, due to a computer problem, all my pics of it were lost.

But you can imagine a 18ish year old on a 2002 CBR 600 F4i. Sigh...

I always knew it: US boys were better off. About '64 I first read about "Winzrollers" (mini bikes) in a Mickey Mouse comic. Instantly made me salivate like a Pawlow's dog.

Short digression to explain my simplicistic philosophy: IMO, boys are delivered in 2 variants: "ball boys" and "wheel boys". (Please note, both are round things, which might explain other preferences in later ages.) If exposed to a selection in very young ages, the instinctive turning towards one of the stimuli shows the type. (To what extent this is genetically or environmentally controlled, remains to be clarified - with a certain bias towards an internal preset, because this appetent behaviour can be noticed quite early.)

Guess what - I'm the "wheel type". Not that I wouldn't play ball games, but wheels were always preferred. So I was merry as a lark to get my first bicycle (not bike) with 7:

In germany there were no "Winzrollers". Practically no farmgrounds which you could putt around with "non-street" bikes. No "open spaces". So I had to wait to be 15 to get this:

and 17 for that:

50cc Kreidler - legendary races and subsequent tuning sessions with these darn Zündapps, Hercules, Puchs and (rarely) Maicos. Insurance fees were insanely high, had to take on an extra job only for these.

And on my 25th I finally was able to jump on this:

1994 Yamaha FZR-600, first new anything I had ever bought. Not my first bike, but the farthest back my photos go. We lost a bunch of old photos due to water damage.

My first bike was Malaguti Grizzly my dad bought for me when I was 4 years old. I can remember the spring of the rear shok boke all the time because I did some jumping...or maybe I was too heavy
Unfortunatley I haven't got any original pics but the bike looked like this:

After a Kreidler Florett (no pics...) this was my first real bike. A Honda CB250G

A Honda CX500 as the second

After a Honda GoldWing 1000 and a BMW R100T, I buy a R80RT. Shortly I start to remove the box

Parts of this bike, I owned till today

Dad looks excited, I look kinda scared

2nd bike, 1984 CR80R, 12yrs old

3rd bike, 1989 CR250R, about 15yrs old

There were many bikes to follow but these 3 taught me the most about how to handle a bike. Thanks Dad for getting me started early.

Way back on post *11 is a picture of a Moto Skeeter which is exactly like my first one and I've never seen another one till now. It was a 2 stroke with a torque coverter and simply smoked every mini bike in our neighborhood.I mention this to other riders when we start reminiscing and nobody ever heard of one.

This was 1966 in Naples FL. I had worked all the last summer to buy this 1965 CB77 and had ridden it from Montana to Connecticut and then to Florida. Camped all the way. Note the US Army issue saddlebags.
