What do I win for having the crappiest 1st bike?!
1987 Riga Delta. 50cc, 2-stroke, 2-speed, 5hp. Top speed of 60kph... if you find a steep downhill. A fine example of Soviet engineering

1969 Honda z50 I bought from a friend for $150. This was taken in 1986 or so. Was originally mustard yellow, and my mom and I hand painted the flames... gave it an extra 5mph.
Ended up cracking the frame at the rear "hardtail" mounts from jumping sidewalks. Traded it in at the local moto shop for a 1983 Yamaha GT80 (no pics of that one.)

Bike I learned to ride on was a little 1974 Honda Trail 70 my mom's boyfriend had tucked away in the barn. First bike I owned was a 1987 Kawasaki EX500 that I bought in 1990 when I turned 16 after convincing my parental figures I wouldn't kill myself. lol

First bike that was mine was a 1977 Honda Express 50CC scooter that went a whopping 20mph. Someone gave it to my dad and I found it in my grandfathers shop and got it running at the age of 14.
This is me riding it: ![]() This is my brother, his friend who rolled it on the pivot road, and myself. ![]() I learned to ride first on an xl75, then a cl360 and an sr500. In college I was given my first real motorcycle and it had a tittle, an early to mid seventies xs650 that was beaten up and the whole damn harness was red wires. I ended up trading it for a gmc jimmy. Now fast forward 6 years and I buy my first real big running motorcycle, a 1997 Honda Shadow Spirit 1100. And now my first project: 1968 yl2cm basket case. |

No pics, but mine was an 82 cr80 I got for my 11th bday in 82. My brother got a cr50. That bike is still floating around the family somewhere!

OK, I'm old, too.
Summer 1969. This one is my Dad and younger brother on my first bike, a Yamaha 80, a 1965 model, I think. ![]() Winter 1970. This one is me on my second bike, a 1967 Suzuki X6 Scrambler. It had unmuffled chambers and a (gasp!) twin leading shoe front brake. The sound was a lot like automatic weapons fire. ![]() Fall 1970. This one is my third bike. A 1969 Suzuki TS250 Savage. I ran the absolute dog crap out of this thing. I took the picture because playing in the mud was pretty rare outside of Phoenix. The rear tire is flat and the number plate reflects my delusions. Hey, I was 16.
