Doon, what time and from where are you leaving on Friday? Mind if Craig and I tag along?

Which Aussie shed company/design?

I've finally decided to buy a decent shed, but after having a look online, there seems to be shitloads of companies offering similar products..... I like the look of the Aussie and American barns and was thinking of something around the 90m2 range (floor space), with no internal columns,, but which companies should I look at and what construction methods are the strongest/best?

I live in SW Western Australia, should I just be looking at local company, or do the big online companies deliver anywhere at a reasonable price?

Are any particular designs recommended in this size range?

I'm sure some of you blokes have significant man caves , what should I be looking for?

Cheers,

Adrian

Can`t help with much . But some good advice is make it twice as big as you think you need . I`ve made this mistake twice ( where`s that head hitting brick wall thing everyone can find except me )

Where you see the smilies etc on the right of your text box, there is a "more" option. Open that up, then scroll about half way down; it's on the left.

Open web trusses are a lot stronger than single C purlin Rafter sheds or spaghetti sheds as i call them. They are easier to erect and are braced far better than light weight sheds that rely on the sheeting for bracing, which is never enough.
Get a good bolt together kit and avoid screwed together shed connections, double the amount of labour.
The other advantage of a web truss design is strength for lifting engines or heavy gear on a block or tackle.
They cost a bit more but well worth it. Like this..

This fellar ( State wide sheds) supplies good sheds from Dubbo in NSW, i've bought plenty off him and never had one missing part or problem with supply. http://www.statewidesheds.com.au/contacts.htm

I have just had my shed approved by council and it will be getting erected in 3 weeks weather permitting, it's a 9x9m enclosed gable garage section with a 6x9 carport attached 3.25m high triple rollers doors across the front.
I was going to go the American Barn route for the extra height but then you have all the internal posts to support the step up section getting in your way.
mine is a Just Kits brand, made about 50m from where I work, they use prefabbed wall frames instead of just posts and batterns so fixing stuff to the walls internally in time to come will be a lot easier.
Can't friggin wait for it to go up and get all my shit out of the weather.

Adrian, I've delivered quite a few sheds to site in our area & have heard some horror stories from people about their "kit sheds" delivered from Perth and elsewhere. Some of 'em were still waiting for all the right bits two years after ordering.

Talk to the local blokes, even Outdoor World (cheap & just not quite nasty) first. There are quite a few shed builders in this area so they should be fairly competitive.
