"There I finally found a tire, its larger but well it will do OK!"
Just curious as to how much a rear tire costs in Bumfuk, China and how much mileage(kilometerage) you got out of one. Awe inspiring rider report. I love the fact that you thus far have ridden most of the way two up on a 250cc. I think that I can't commute <60 mi. on anything less than a 650cc. Thanks for putting my over indulgent American ego in perspective for me. Patiently waiting for your next installment on Urumqi.

Hey!
Just got back to Paris. I am getting back on the report soon. thanks a lot for the comments guys! Fred dirtconnector: The tire from Bumfuk, China is actually quite good, I paid 80USD for it and was scared of driving with it in the beginning, not leaning too much in the turns. After a while, it turned out to be better than I expected!

The famous phrase 'ignorance is bliss' fits to this report
If someone asks me to repeat this trip, I would begin the list 'satelite phone, GPS, extra tires, camping gear, blah blah. Not to mention a 1200GS. 10,000 miles on a Yamaha 250? You are waaaaay cool!!! But don't do that again Can't wait for the rest of the RR.

I'm sorry I can't believe you did this on a 250cc...Such a trip I would imagine should require at least a 650 CC

Hey hey hey!
I just got a new apartment in Paris and yep, Kins, you're right, I probably spent too much time enjoying my Vespa on the Champs-Elysées! So, I'll have a proper optic fiber internet connection in a few days and will get back on the report. The next article will be about my travels through the Xinjiang region in China, during the dark times of the Uigur riots, I was one of the "lucky" ones to be there at that time. Hugs from Paris Frederic Shiffer.
