Knowing how you ride your bike I can only imagine what that rental car went through with you behind the wheel.

I finally did it!

I rode Corvo Branco and Rio do Rastro. I did it all in one long day. 783Km. I left at 7:30 AM and got home at 8:45 PM. But it was worth it. I took a lot of pictures https://picasaweb.google.com/gr8doc/...coRioDoRastro#

But it still does not give you a good idea of how big those mountains are. Just incredible. I would like to do it again but make it a 2 day trip. Today is my recovery day.

Hey Mike,
Do you mean you're moving back to the States, or is it just for a while?

Raf
I have wanted to do this ever since I rode Rio do Rastro last year in the fog, rain and at night freezing my nuts off. It is getting cold here now so my time is limited as it gets really cold in Urubici. Like I said I would like to do it again but take 2 days. When do you want to go???

I am moving back to the states Sep./Oct. so I will be selling my bike and car. I want to go back to the land of cheap bikes and houses that are warm in the winter and cool in the summer. The 100+% VAT tax is just too much for me to maintain the lifestyle I want. Food and booze cost about the same here but everything else is at least double. So I have done a lot of eating and here. I have enjoyed it a lot but long term it is just not in my best interest financially and for my health to stay here. Yea I could quite drinking but then what will I do????? LOL

Hey you found a great road. Just my favorite kind. Why didn't we do this before? Hopefully I can make it out to ride this before I sell my bike.

Heading to Rio around the 25 of June

Hi all. I am riding through South America on my F800GS and am just about to finish up my trip in Rio. First, let me know if you're a fellow rider in Rio and want to get together for a beer and story exchange.

Second, does anyone have information on shipping a bike from Rio de Janeiro? I'm looking to ship in the second week of July to Portugal.

Thanks!

Steve

Hi Steve, are you in Rio yet? Or on your way there?
I live in Volta Redonda (120km west from Rio), you can always stop by if you like...

I don't have any info on shipping bikes, but if I'm not mistaking, it's not the cheapest option.

Best
Raf

PS, we're going to do a two day weekend trip in the region of the Serra da Mantiqueira and the vale do Café the coming weekend. Always welcome to join.

Bike rallies

Hola a todos!
Anybody know of any upcoming bike rallies in Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay or Brazil within the next couple of months?
I'm sure they going on - it's just a matter of sniffing them out?!
Anybody know some local biker associations that I can contact?

Thanks in advance and salud!

Patrick

You can find info on meets in Brazil @ http://www.pisteiros.com.br/events
I have been to the hotel Renar in Frailburgo with Evandro (runs the web site) and can highly recommend it. Great riding and then back to the hotel for beer, sauna, beer, pool, beer, Jacuzzi, beer and then dinner and more beer.
Contact him via the site and he can fill you in on the event and others he may not have posted.
