Jacked in broad daylight in Atlanta.

A good friend of mine got jacked this morning in Atlanta. He had his sons 2005 CR 85 on Craigslist, talked with a buyer via phone, set up a PUBLIC meeting place, guy sits on the bike, asks if he can start it, then takes off never to be seen again. My buddy called the police, but all they could do is make a report. Just a heads up to be weary of this if you use Craigslist.

That is nuts, insanely brazen of the criminal. Could easily have gotten shot pulling a stunt like that. I'd guess that the bike is being used for running drugs in the 'hood. I've been in some areas where the local low-lifes run drugs from one ghetto to another nearby ghetto on beat up (and likely stolen) MX bikes and quads.

I'm shocked how often this is still happening. Meet the person at a police station if you are going somewhere. Or don't remove it from the trailer. Put a disk lock on it. Etc etc.

Place another scam ad and wait to see if you get a call similar to the other one (ie meet me somewhere I have cash) with the same number or something and go meet with the person. Call police and have them nearby. Arrest perp when he shows up. It's been done before. One guy even caught the perp when he rode up on the bike he had stolen from the guy the first go around. Check Georgia off road for the story and details.

Take their license if they want to take a ride. Make sure it is them.

+2 This has been done before they also had a story on WSB-TV about them riding bikes and 4 wheelers through streets and parks all hours of the night waking everybody up.

Nobody gets on a bike that I'm selling without cash in hand -- in MY hand. You want to take it for a spin and keep on riding? See ya!

Phone number seems like a good place to start an investigation.

that really does suck. last two bikes i sold... one asked if he could take it for a ride. i told him no, but i'd be happy to do some ride-by's for him. the other guy asked if his friend could ride it for him.

both were still sales, though.

The guy here that was on the local Atlanta news, got his bike back, he set the guy up with another add, cops were in the trailer waiting on the bad guys when they showed up..
He recognized the cell# responding to the new add, called cops who agreed to the sting.

I told my buddy we should do that, but list my number so the crook doesn't recognize it. We haven't set it up yet, but we probably will.
