I've got a deer hunting weekend coming up down near holly shelter. Wonder if anybody on I40 would notice a packed Dr and a guy with a rifle on his shoulder. I usually drive my pkup. Could make a detour up thru the Croatian forest on my way home. It's do able.

Well I have seen a KLR650 with a gun case mounted on the side of a rack and a pistol holster on the handle bars of a Harley. Don't think a slung rifle would be much different. Do it.

That would do it! Wouldn't be much left of the deer to eat tho.
I much prefer the one shot one deer method. Saves ammo.

This is why I love my Ural. Pickup truck and an ATV all in one for deer season.

Sent from the voices in my head and transcribed by their drinking buddy.

I've got to custom build a trailer hitch to bolt on the Dr. Then I can pull my little trailer with it and save fuel. That would give me more off road options. Or hitch a ride on a green Ural this wkend

Because of inholdings in the Croatan National Forest you need to go at this tag site from the south. The roads to the north of the tag are gated between the tag and the nearest blacktop. Access by Catfish Lake Rd would work fine.

I've mapped out a route from Holly Shelter up thru Jacksonville. then north on 58 to catfish lake rd. Looks like 15 miles in on gravel roads. Anybody want to go for a ride? I'll go this wkend unless someone else wants it.
