Don't worry Ray... nothing but Dual Sports east of 95. It won't sit.

Was quite a bit drier when you were there. Water all the way up to the ferry dock when I grabbed it...look in my mirror in the grab pics. I had to break through the iced over stuff to get through it. Never done that before.

Bladen might just get posted on this purty weekend. Maybe even before the new year. Got a spot picked out, just hoping I can reach it.

Yeah, I was just playin. Definitely drier from your pics, but nowhere close to *dry*. Had some pretty tricky water crossings on the FJR. I get the feeling that road stays flooded.

Keeping my ear to the ground for that Bladen tag....

Bladen County Tag

Here is the Tag Pic:

Close up 1:

Close up 2:

The road it's on starts off slab then changes to dirt or more appropriately sand. I'd say it's do-able almost all the way to the Cemetery on something like an Anakee or Tourance with careful maneuvering but if you really want to have fun bring a bike/tire combination geared for dirt because you can keep on going down the 100+ miles of publicly accessible maintained dirt road in this forest once you grab the tag.

If you can't get your bike all the way to the tag then the next best thing is this sign about 100 feet from the Cemetery:

And if you can't make it to that sign there is another option for you a bit farther away from the Cemetery-> This sign:

I think I found it. About 321 miles away from me. Looks like a fun place to explore on the KLR though I'm not too sure how well the Kenda 270s would do on sand. I guess there's only one way to find out. I bet this one won't last the weekend. Happy New Year everyone! Here's to a good 2011. May she be better than 2010 and a whole lot better than 2009 and 2008. Be safe and see you all next year. Joe

Says the man with 3 plated bikes that could grab this tag.

Interesting tag and pics. I have rode low seat height cruisers on sand roads like those pictured in the NC sandhills. I have not been that brave on the ZR yet but I think I could but it would be SLOW.

I cannot believe y'all let me get this tag. I knew it would be gone by the time I got to it. I slept till 11:30 this morning and my head felt 2 sizes too big for my helmet when I left the house. All is good now, though.... its amazing what a few miles on 2 wheels can do for you.

If anyone is still making an attempt for it, I'm at the hamburger joint in e-town just a mile up from the end of 242. Will be here for a bit. Stop by.

More info on the tag for anyone who hasn't figured it out yet.... Tatum Cemetery in Bladen Lakes State Forest. I've always wondered whether there was much to ride back there. Now I know. Will have to do some exploring.

Nice Grab. Didn't think it would stand the weekend.

Here's the Road Map if you haven't found it already. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...3/BLSF_Map.pdf

The tag is shown on the map as a cross off Snake Trail just up from the intersection of Bill Martin Trail in Compartment B. Most of the roads continue off the Forest property onto private property (almost tagged the house at the end of Manley Drive b/c I missed the Tatum Cem my first time through). The private lands sections of the roads are not typically shown on this map except in some spots where the State maintains them.

As long as your vehicle is plated and is registered for street use, it's good to ride on any of the roads in the forest.
