Signal - same situation today as well...was on the road bike these past weeks first for the ULCER and then the Snowbird Climb - with a stint as a travelling non-moto marshal for Tour of Utah in between. First extended time on either the GS or R80 in weeks - just did this very ride today but don't think I saw any non cruisers or sport bikes so I missed giving u the proper salute!...Great to be off the pedals and a fantastic ride!...had the road to my self in my direction and only passed 2 cars up through Woodruff so was able to enjoy the twisties...had my summer gear on and could have almost busted out my heated vest as it was a good 12 degrees cooler over the summit ....picked up hwy 16 over to Evanston WY and then on to Park City after that for a couple of cold ones at the weekly street fair with live band. Awesome that this great back country is so readily accessible along the Wasatch Front....great shots- thanks for the memories!!...and thanks for a great thread. I have a number of your previous wanderings tagged as "must do"

THanks for checking in

The ULCER- man I hate the second half of that ride
Snowbird is a beast, but rewarding at some level

Glad to see you keeping the thread going, Signal! I managed to "sneak" through Utah twice on a trip from NC to the Pacific NW/Northern California and really enjoyed your state . . . as always. I got to take a few shots:

Arches NP-

Utah 12-

I apologize for the hi-jack! By the way, if you're in the Moab area, the Silver Sage Motel is a good place to stay. While not fancy, it's clean as a pin and the owner is very motorcycle friendly.

Mike

Outstanding shots - Hijack anytime . Arches at night is good stuff.

Looks like you had some excellent weather.

Utah scenery transcends bikes.

Look closely, coming in from the right and traveling up across to the center is the road I was on earlier. It's 26 miles up to a dead end, turn around and come back; worth every inch.

A special thanks to Signal for this long lived thread.

Found myself in a similar situation to last week (other than a much better week overall), ie- a Sunday afternoon, with 2 hrs before sunset.
Cool.
I'd seen some hints that the leaves were changing early with the dry weather- so I kinda went leaf hunting, results were limited but the ride was great nevertheless .

the lower slopes had some yellow (?brown) stuff- The heavy rain the last 2 days really cleared the skys - first real rain in months

One red tree on the slope

Again, really clear (and cool, about 65 deg) near the top

Took off to the dirt on the upper slopes on "wasatch ridge rd" for a few miles

Some new ruts/gravel washes evident from the rain, but still dry enough I kicked up a little dust

Off the ridge to the southeast

A few groups of these fellas- may have to go look for coyotes in the area

The shadows got long, headed back to the pavement and home

Sunset over Ogden

I love Utah! Nice to see you're still promoting the beauty of it. I was out there in Moab again last week. This time without the wife.

I even went to see where Kowalski vanished. If you're old enough to remember the film 'Vanishing Point'

I'd planned on bugging out for a few days.
Mrs. Signal decided she'd tag along ; mind you she's never ridden with me overnight (her longest trip was about 300 miles prior). Okay, (and because I have to come home after) fine by me

Had some tail light (bulb) issues that rerouted the first day a bit, but then got rolling toward Vernal-

She is kinda picky about equipment - gas in Kamas

Headed over Wolf Creek pass to Hanna/Tabiona

Some colors but mostly dry-

Now we're cookin

Dino museum was closed (open 9-5)- some shots over the fence

Our B&B room was outstanding and passed her approval (note the pillow count)- The Landmark Inn, an old baptist church. Great value for $85

The GS had friends in formation for the evening

Day 2:

She voted to continue , had the ubiquitous waffle breakfast, and headed west on (the awful) hwy 40 to Duchsene, turned left onto 191 into Ashley natl forest-

SHe's still there

Headed for Price- Nice over the top

Cut through Price, turned right onto hwy 10

State trooper passed going the opposite direction, turned around but then sat on the shoulder

Still there

Ate lunch in Castle Dale- "BIG MOMMA's" burgers, 3 out of 5 beer battered burps.
Then boogied under I-70 to the best part of the day- Hwy 76 over Fish lake (excellent sweepers) to Loa. She dug it.

Yup-

The summit is about 7700 ft. Hazy but you get the idea

Woot-

Arrived in Torrey late afternoon...
