Okay, but what's that got to do with the choice of the word "fingers" over "toes"?

IIRC I think it is her left shin.

Edited.. sorry it's the "five fingers" above her right knee. But I think you need to have a tall monitor.

I bought a pair of the KSO's after they were recommended to me by a gal I know who's training for a marathon. They're strange, no question there, but I think of it like when wearing gloves: you have stuff that goes between each finger, and no one cares, but if you wore mittens on your bike, you'd be looked at like you're :ymca. These are just gloves for feet.

With real shoes, I run an average of about 20 miles a week, 3-5 miles a day with a day or two of recovery. The first time I ran with the Vibrams, I had to force myself to finish even 1 mile, and after that, my calves felt like they had actually gotten a workout for once, and were sore for the next couple of days. I haven't managed to make the 2 mile mark yet in these toe-shoes, but each time I run in them I'm going a little further, a little faster, and a little more stable. My legs feel stronger now, and I think they make a great training shoe.

I don't know why it's "fingers" instead of "toes" but I will say that the Kenyans run barefoot for the first 14 years or so of their lives, and they've dominated in the Olympics for years.

I'm not a runner, because I'm fat. But I do have a case of plantar fasciitis and I've been reading that these can help a little bit. Gotta admit I really like the idea. I like to be barefoot most of the time, I just don't like the idea of leaving my feet exposed like that.

So I'm going to check out a pair this weekend. If I like, I may buy.

This. Don't buy on line without trying them on locally. The cut of the Vibrams is not for everyone. I wanted to get into a pair of the KSO's, and finally found a pair to try on locally. As it turns out the big toe is too short and the last 3 are way too long and leave entirely too much excess fabric/rubber.

As a long distance runner I want to try minimalist/barefoot running (without actually going barefoot) but it obviously won't be in the Vibram Five Fingers.

Only that it works. Toes sounds dumb.

I almost ordered a pair online... Now that I've read the previous posts, I think I'll go buy them at a place where I can try them on...
