Here are 7 of the 8 riders in the water

I would say that the group ran thru 8 to 10 water crossings today plus a few narly bridges and beaver dams. More videos and then pictures to follow. I had a great time today with everyone involved. Looking forward to more days out. SloPhil probably did 500 plus kilometers today during the 12 hours we were out riding, and like C-Stain mentioned a big chunk was off road on trails and the like.

Nate Showing off with a wheelie out of the water.

Sherpa 250 launching out the puddle. Some of today's ride details will be added by Fred who was in charge of leading the pack throughout the hills and valleys enroute to New France, the balancing rock, and Sissiboo Falls. New France offers plenty of very scenic spots for camping and kicking back.

Pictures of the Day Trip to New France

and Sissiboo Falls and the Balancing rock. 8 riders took part in todays ride with SloPhil on a KLR 650 putting in close to 500 kilometers today. Lots of trails and gravel made this a workout for sure. Here is the first of two rendezvous points. The first group met in Bridgetown and then we proceeded on a one hour trail ride to Bear River to meet the second batch of riders (Bear River - Switzerland of Nova Scotia I have heard).

Bear River Cafe and 2nd RV point

Nate and Andrew joined the ride at this point, and Fred Green took charge and led us onto the back roads towards New France.

Here is Fred Green, No relation to Red Green. I tested him by asking for some duct tape, and he could only come up with electrical tape. Other then that Fred did a great job of organizing the route today along with his smarter half Shirley.

Here is the gang stopped at an intersection ...

making sure we all get going in the right direction. No signs on these logging roads usually.

Here is a group shot after crossing what appears to be a beaver dam enroute to New France.

The infamous balancing rock...

On this side someone painted Brian and Nicole. On the other side it said Bob and Nicole. Just saying ... At this point a blue 1976 chev van went by on the logging road with similar spray paint on it. Too stunned to take a picture of it, although I think I heard the sound track from deliverance coming from the van.

One of many bridges we crossed today.

SloPhil on his KLR stopped on the bridge. Lots of water flowing today. Great spot to stop and enjoy the view.

Trail section in the New France Area

Taking a break on the trail.

We parked the bikes here to walk over to the river where the Electricity used to be produced for (Electric City) New France around 100 years ago. This place had power almost 30 years before many large towns in the same part of the province. New France used to have a logging business, and train that shipped wood all over the world. It was a town way ahead of it's time. Check it out on the web - electric city, new france, nova scotia.

We walked on the lake shore...

towards the river not realizing the trail was in behind the trees. Only one person found the trail going in. Shirley!

Silver River

On the edge of the lake at the mouth of the river are some beams of wood and a foundation from the logging operation. This may have been where the Dynamo was located although we cannot be sure.

Group Picture on the River. SloPhil is standing on one of the beams and there is plenty of wood under the water that I walked on to the other river bank.

Everyone here agrees that Advrider members are number one.

Sissiboo Falls

After New France we went to a Dam project and just around then it started to rain. The weather office called for rain at 9 am and it didn't show up until 3 pm. It is reassuring to know that weather men and women are consistent in their forecasts the world over. (only wrong 50% of the time, generally speaking of course)

Nate looking over the lake leading to the dam, probably day dreaming about the day he can upgrade his 250 sherpa for a KLR 650

Out of order ...

A few of the folks standing in what used to be a building in New France. That's all for now. After 14 hours of abuse this guy has to get some rest. Thanks to all the riders for a great day in Nova Scotia, and thanks to all the readers. More posts are coming from the crew you see here. Again a special thanks to Fred Green for being our tour guide today. You did one heck of a great job. Next ride - Roxbury - and the haunted town.
