About the loss

Thanking each and every rider for the kind words.
It IS tough. I'm keeping a stiff upper lip, but it quivers as I keep returning to the "no longer with us" thoughts.

After the healing, when time is right, I'll be looking for another Aussie.

Ah Flud, what a beautiful dog and a loving tribute! Bless you for giving him such a great life, and for having the wisdom to not rush out and find another right away. There will come a time, but right now any pup you brought into your life would be competing with a ghost.

The love of a dog is one of life's most incredible gifts.

thanks you guys

Boondox...
Looks like you've had your share of heartache.
And a wonderful memorial to boot!

Kaw4Life...
Thanks for the kind words. He was a champ. There'll be no forgetting him!
In fact, I'm still going through daily routines with the next notion of how/what to do with him as I wrap up each daily task, but he's not there.
I get a crumbling feeling of sorrow and hold back cause I know he had a really good life. He couldn't go on another step.
I know he loved me very much as he looked to me for guidence with every turn.

Used to tow me @ 25mph on a bicycle.
Could catch those nylabone frisbees no matter how far you can throw one.
I didn't want him to be crazy about riding motorcycles with me,
(so he didn't ride like his two predicesors), but he still was nuts about anything with wheels from garbage cans to lawnmowers.
That sucker would nip me cause he'd be so enthused.
I have a million photos and vids of him but can't bear to bring em up right now. Some day I'll make a tribute video. He was a camera bug. Seemed to know when he was the subject.

Thanks again you guys! It's great to get the reassuring comments. Specialy in a bike forum!

I came home for a week genuinely surprised when there was no nose pushing its way through the door as I opened it. There are times to this day that I reach over to the other side of the truck to pet where her head would have been had she not passed. I feel your pain brother. It will pass with time. My Mom always said, "It is not what happens to us in life but rather how we deal with it." Well I can focus on the void and feel pain or I can envision her shredding the bark off a tree trying to get that F$%^ing squirrel (her words not mine) and have myself a giggle.

Flud was with me day and night, work or play, my constant companion unless I was out on a motorcycle ride.

He gave us love and joy to the last day.

Our goodbyes having been said, I watched as he laid his head back with a relaxing sigh of releif.
Sorely he'll be missed. Forever he'll be remembered!

What a beautiful dog and loving testament to a good friend. I am so sorry for the loss of your beloved dog. You may be familiar with his poem, but I find it helps me to get through the greiving process.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
