HS#6 ...Now I went and did it.
This weekends race takes place at Carlton Ranch in central Fl. The property offers a a creek running through it that Sat riders crossed 2 times and Sunday 7 times! Sat mileage was 8 miles and Sunday 12.
Haley had decided to race Junior C this race against the boys. As much as she started on the same line with them when racing Junior girls, the idea of actually racing everyone on her line was hoped to motivate her and make for some better battles for her. She got a good start and was mid pack at the first corner ![]() she looked to be having fun as she completed the laps. ![]() and as the checker flew she came in laughing and smiling about having more people to compete against and the decision to go with Junior C was deemed a success , in spite of the finishing order (14th out of 17) On a side not she was only one minute behind the girl that beat her by 10 last race! I put a minute on the field each lap as I passed stragglers and kept a decent pace. ![]() On the 3rd lap mile 8 I thought" I need to slow down or I'm going to win and get promoted". I did just that for a while as I thought about what the right thing to do was. I wouldn't want some ones first win to be because I sand bagged, plus I had wanted first place for so long the idea of giving up another one seemed crazy to me. So i wicked it back up and came across with the win!!! Couldn't happen to a nicer guy.
Congrats to you, and to Haley for making the decision to push herself and race the boys, even beating a couple. ![]() She's improving every race and having a lot of fun, you should be proud. You might be a B rider now, but you're an AA dad. . |
