I'm gonna assume y'all decided that I take apart the horn.. because that's what I did.. and some more cleaning. I'm not in my shop much, but I hope to at least clean up the sidecar rig a little bit each time I am.
I'm trying to source some glass beads locally. I'm tired of sand clogging up and absorbing moisture in the blasting cabinet/gun. Seems Grainger is the only place that sells it.. little pricey, though.

Caught up and subscribed
![]() I feel a sickness coming on... may have a case of /2 fever (what one gets when reading this and the Slash 2 thread). Any update on the titles? I haven't gone far down that rabbit hole yet in Mizzurah. I can relate to the prince(ess) at the DMV. I may have found one in Maplewood DOR offices, but I didn't have the VIN info with me at the time.

I've got a guy in Tennessee, a guy in Alabama, and a guy in Texas willing to help.. but all of them need me to physically bring the bikes to them.
So, I'm still putting it off.. I've tried on DoR's on both sides of the Missouri/Missourah state line.. hoping the Missourah folks would be more helpful. Nope.

Harbor Freight has got glass beads, and walnut shells. I've been using both. A whole lot cheaper than Grainger.

No problemo. Looks good to me!
... Progress is slow. I came back "home" this weekend and have meddled with them a little, but I don't know where I've left off, so I'll cover the basics. I am no longer stuck here: The key comes out and goes back in easily. I can now unlock this. Quote:
..and today I looked closer at this: Since the case has already been butchered, I am not opposed to the fact that I am pretty confident that there is enough material there to remove some to make way for an electric starter. I don't think I'll hit oil if I start monkeying with it. Today, I loosened more nuts and bolts and took those heat shields off and had general day-dreams about the conversion. I knew I didn't want to get attached to it, because then I'd start throwing money at it. Thankfully, I don't have any right now.. but it's really growing on me. It'll be a handful, though. The frame needs to be reworked, period. Some of my dreams include a beefed up engine, but I don't want to extremely overpower the brakes, so.. we'll see where I end up in a couple years when I actually get around to it. ![]() I just looked up my vw engine number on thesamba.com, and determined it's from April 1964. I think that means it's a 1200cc, but can anyone verify that? The number is 8619XXX.
