It is an Akra map and I believe it's best with the opened up air filter, that's what I have. But I'm not really a techo junkie pretend to be expert so you need to check.

No, it is not. It is either prefered or not, there is no "matter of opinion."

I have never had this problem.

SM fender looks amazing but in muddy/wet shit it won't protect you from getting covered in the front.
The enduro fender is better in wet weather because it reaches down farther than the SM fender.
The low fender is the best for wet weather/light mud... but in mud from something like clay.. it can lock up the front tire and be scary as fook.

On my 640 in the North Navada rally I picked up a rock in the front tire and it locked up my front tire for a split second in a corner. I hate washing the front tire out... so I don't use low fenders anymore. Maybe the stock 640 fender was to close to the tire.

Me too, the new rounded one just doesn't look right... Although it probably does a bit better of a job keeping the mud/ water off of my face/ chest.

I used to ride a Yamaha TY175 trials bike 30 odd years ago, it had a low fender and seemed to work fine in wet, muddy conditions but would lock the wheel in snow. I took it off whenever it snowed and put it back on for everything else. I guess maybe tyre tread plays a big part in mud sticking?

Actually, it's a matter of what your ride in. If you ride in places that get muddy, then the high fender is the only option. If all you ride on is pavement, gravel and sand, then you can get by with a low fender.
