Last fun ride of 2011...

…for me. Snow is starting to cover all the fun stuff.

These photos were taken in the foothills east of Idaho Falls.

In the next photo, if you look close you can see Big Southern on the left side of the photo. You've been there before, huh Ryman. Twin Buttes are in the center of the photo.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

Congrats, very nice combo. The 690 is a terrific dual. Enjoy ;-)

I'm considering a 690. Right now I ride a 530. Which I biff an awful lot, on trails, due primarily to my rudimentary skills.

I want something I can ride further on the street to get to the fun stuff. How biffworthy is a 690?

The 530's been great. But it's a high strung maintenance hog beyond my skills and interest.

Hey BCC,

How tall are you and what exactly is "FUN STUFF" for you.

Well here's me throwing it away (son took this with a camera phone)

And this one's more normal.

About 210#? I'm looking at the 690 too 5'10/155. Keep in mind relevance of ride height is inversely proportional to skill. Vertically compromised folks like myself must choose the proper side well. So be it!

I don't have much riding time on the 530 but one thing if for sure , you will sometimes wish you were on your 530 in some situations BUT, for me , the 690 does everything very well. If your skill level is pretty good , you'll have a blast on the 690. Tight , slow trails are not what the 690 likes best but , not because it's 50lbs more than your 530 , but because gear ratio is different and it wants to stall once in a while so you really have to work the clutch more (keep the rev high). It's a tough call both bike have their good and bad. But if you really feel you want to ride further to hit some trails and have a lower maintenance bike , then the 690 is probably the best compromise.

Or keep the 530 and get a 690 .....

BTW, that climb in the pic is no problem for the 690....

Based on the first pic....I would stay with the 530 for now.........

all jokes aside the 690 can handle dirt naps...but you will find it is less forgiving in general in your "fun stuff"...ie more likely to biff...
