I asked about getting your daughter a shirt for her MSL report, but we don't have any. I was able to get some nice prints and stickers and such though. I think I got enough for each student to get a sticker. They are actually stickers from the previous Mars Exploration Rover mission, but I don't think it'll make a difference.

The video below is an animation showing all the key events of the landing and the mission on Mars. I wish it narrated or captioned what is shown, but it's fairly quiet. There's a nice sequence at the end showing how it collects and analizes samples so don't give up on it too early.

I'll try to make it to the campsite on Friday night to drop off the package with the other stuff in it for you.

Rob - that's awesome - thanks a lot!

I'd give you credit for helping her achieve an A grade, but she always gets A's... Feel good about getting kids excited about math and science, especially girls.

I've got a scenic/twisty road route planned out. We'll see about the weather.

Susan is in for Friday night and possibly Saturday... Do we have an up to date count?

I'm planning on the ride on Saturday. What time are you thinking of heading out? I got me a new helmet to try out! And alcontrast, how difficult? Should I wear ready-to-sweat or gravel road clothes?

camper head count should be easily under 12 each night but there may be a lot of tents.. They could hassle us a little about the number of "vehicles" but I think we'll be fine.. After all, we're from the internet.

Devils Hopyard State Park (Campground at approximately 8 Foxtown Rd East Haddam, CT 06423 according to google maps)
Sites #16 and #17.. I'll be there before 6pm tomorrow.. Hopefully a bit earlier than that..

As for riding gear LiLolita.. The potentially sweaty sections will be fairly short and it should be pretty cool / cloudy Saturday so regular riding gear would be ok I think. We'll also have a bunch of paved sections mixed in of course where we'll be moving pretty quick. There's a potential for rain showers too.. The ride itself will depend a bit on who's there. I have a base route that is very much like what we did last time you came down but we can add or skip sections as we go. There are other options as well...

What did you decide on the pallets?

Bring a few pallets but don't go crazy.. 4-6 or so would be more than enough. If you need an excuse for the wife as to why you're going out solo on a friday evening just throw a couple in the truck and come hang out!! I'm going to bring a bit of firewood and I could resupply saturday if needed. Pallets do burn nicely but this campground doesn't seem like the big ass bonfire type unfortunately.. Time will tell I suppose!

HobbomocK: when I checked on my phone earlier it showed all the sites as being "reserved" but I now think it was a phone glitch.. I'm glad to see there are plenty of open sites

RhodeHazard: I think you beurocratically simplified my "4-6 pallets" to the shorter more governmental "46 pallets" which is probably a common mistake.. I can promise HappySeal will bring less than 46 pallets.. This isn't Burning Man!
