Past weekend I found out that my KLR has a cheap handlebar (surprise surprise) that is easy to bend after some drop-o-rama/crash. I have to deal with that now.. It was a lot of fun to ride home with a bike trying to take a right while I was going straight.. I was praying that no BMWs or KTMs would see me and my awesome KLR :)

So I cant make it to this ride since I am dealing with technical difficulties..

Don't buy new bars! I have a set of renthals (I think) from an old klr. Assuming old and new models don't change, they're all yours

P_funk,

I sent a PM on your way..

Jerry,

Yes, it was a little more than a slow drop this time :) All that dorky looking protection ( especially the knee guards) I wear did its job, just got away with little scratches and slightly bruised wrist. I made the mistake of riding as usual with new slick tires ( which I thought wouldn't really matter off-road).

I may tag along on Sunday or I may end up doing some little bike riding instead. My big bike needs a new chain pretty bad.. I'll see how things look later in the weekend..

I bought a shadow touring cruiser for a 6 week trip I've got coming up in September but it feels soulless to me...Thinking of stromming it.
I don't think I will be bringing my '09 DL1000 on this ride, but feel free to stop down and check it out sometime.

Hey Aaron,

Just read of your (mis)adventure. I hope you heal up real quick.

I had the cast on my hand up at CroMag last year, but it's pretty much back to normal now. I hope we will see you back there this year.

Terry

Trying to draw a bead on this weekend --

It sounds like Jgormley is putting something together for Sunday: 1030 meetup at a junction.

Is there also a movement afoot for a Saturday ride?

I could be down for either or both.

Should be fine... The dirt is pretty easy for most of the ride, should be a cake walk..

I guess we can go with the Rt 101 / Tucker Hollow start...
This is easier to get to time wise for more people. and
we will start out with easy dirt roads, a bit of tar first and then finish with Pulaski...

Give a shout if 10:30 is too early...

I could do something saturday afternoon (I have work in the morning) or Sunday.. I may just do a short small bike ride in my area Saturday afternoon and then try to head up for JGormleys ride Sunday on the bigger bike..

but be warned.. Last weekend I figured out how to get the front wheel up on the F650gs without popping the clutch or hitting a bump.. It only works in first gear, it's not far off the ground or up for very long, and it requires a particular alignment of the stars.. But I'll be working on my "pop-a-wheelie" everytime we pull away from a stop! It's still a no-go in second gear though, damn shitty power to weight ratio on the F650gs single!

yeah tomorrow I gotta track why my blinkers have gone on the fritz on the Husaberg.. I hate electrical crap.. need to mount some risers to the BMW, need to mount a tire to my spare rear wheel for the Husa, need to work on some rust on the trailer, and mount some shelves inside... I bet I can do at least one of those things in the 15 hours of sunlight tomorrow. Looks like Sunday for me.. on Monday I am going to ride over to New Hartford and do some fly fishing on the Farmington River.
