Riding 2-up

Hello everyone,

I'm currently in the market for a rig and I'm considering a Ural because I'm past my need for speed days and I already prefer to stay off the freeway when I'm on cruiser as it is...

What I'd like to get feedback on is 2-up riding. How many ride with their passenger on the pillion and cargo in the hack (or dogs)? My wife doesn't think she will like the hack and would rather stay at the pillion which means that I will definitely need to look into adding weight to the hack even when the dogs are present (they weigh a combined 60 lbs currently and probably 85ish lbs when the pup finally grows up). Given that everything I've been reading states that a passenger should always go first in the hack I was curious if everyone believes it to be gospel or is it just highly recommended just like 2-up is frowned upon for 2-wheels till you have some experience under your belt?

So, what's your view on the idea of 2-up without a lot of weight in the hack?
