Ok! Here it is ADVWOLF & WVHILLBILLY identities revealed! Clear evidence that Applachian Americans in the mountains of the east ride great machines, on the best roads, and marry the best looking women!

Possibly for the fist time anywhere!?
WVHILLBILLY & His Gorgeous wife! Mrs. HILLBILLY!

Thee Mad Man of the Mountains "ADVWOLF" and his faithful steed "GS F800" BMW

Trying to keep up to a "Super Duke" on the mountain roads of WV [the best anywhere] on a long wheelbase, almost a 600 lb sport touring bike, was a challenge.

But a FUN Challenge, and Kira was up to it.

Now if the driver can keep his eyes on the road and not go sight seeing! [harder that it sounds!].

focus - eyes on the roads!

The ride up this road to the summit of the ridge

Tow Beemers and a KTM ! No Punch line, Just pure fun!

We started out on great roads

the secondary was a good road

Down the bottom of the first ridge, and check out the streams Only in WV!

Chill Time!
The Legendary ADVWOLF

WVHILLBILLY - It is said some men waste there growth hormones on growing hair, others use it to grow brains. [that's his story and he's sticking to it.]

After everyone get's a little rest!

The Bikes got a little rest, and know the way to go!

Back up the next ridge!

Check out the "Hard Copy" GPS - forget it! Who cares this ride is so good, I'm putting the camera away

and not take it back out untill I get back to

Cumberland! This was a great ride on great roads, fantastic vistas, and good company. Will do this trip again soon.

We where a little confused about the road that lead back to the campground? Who paves the campground like a super slab, and makes the 6 mile stretch getting back to it a dirt Path? REally? Kira found it to be less than suitable. Again Sorry about outing it, but it was necessary! I haven't ridden the "Dragon's Tail" yet, but it can't be much better than this!
Most likely if you come down and ride US129 at Deals Gap, you will be dissappointed. It's a great road but usually has to much traffic and LEO presence to really enjoy it. It used to be a great road until it became too popular. Then lots of T-shirt vendors started selling lots of T-shirts and got many people to call it "the Dragon", which I refuse to do. Calling it "the Dragon" would imply that it is a really challenging road to ride. It may be fun but there are much twistier and more challenging roads roads in the area. Those roads don't have the traffic, LEOs or silly names.... Except for one: 28 is a great road but the competing T shirt vendors can't decide whether to call it "moonshiner 28" or "Hellbender 28" I guess it will confuse the tourists

Hey Klav
it's been a while. Good hearing from you. I could not resist promoting Wild and Wonderful West Virginia. Besides there is plenty enough to go around for everyone. Like you said no fancy names just great riding! One of the best kept secrets .... well not so much any more. Thanks to great threads like the "West Virginia", and other like it. I have heard of the overplay of the "DRa..... " OOOPPs Deal,s Gap, but I still want to run it. I've got it on my bucket list to ad injury to Insult the plan is to pick up the BRP and take it to it's logical conclusion. [and am still afflicted with CRS]

By all means, come down and experience Deals Gap. It may be a little over hyped but the other roads in the area really are great but without the hype, traffic and LEOs. The BRP is also a great ride.

I still think the best comment off the day was maybe I (Riff) should look into getting a 650GS. Yeah! I loved the ride but I live for the the Scrambles that WVHillbilly puts us on.

putting together another recent day-trip I came across some pics of a recent event where I treated Kira like another model bike; riding her in the back of a pick up to the shop! You can draw your own conclusions! Got a recall notice and was advised not to ride her to the shop. The funny part was when I got there the mechanic asked why I didn't ride her down? Oh well got her to the best BMW shop on the east coast "Morton's BMW" in Fredericksburg, VA. The trip would require the necessary supplies .... like "Butt Putty"

The shop said the earlier I could get there the quicker they could get me in so at the appropriate hour to take the near 200 mile trip from Cumberland to Fredericksburg.

half way there on rt 50 just east of Winchester Va

Arrival! On Time? a half hour before they open!

Josh liked the trip, but a couple of laps around the showroom you've seen it all and boredom comes quickly to the young.

You gotta pace yourself; Take your time, and you'll meet some interesting people, and sites. For example.:

or:

and:

finally:

You meet some great people and see there great rides like this one!

The Bike is .... speaks for Itself!

One more look at something nice! :

ooooppps?!!

OK THEN ! Time to get back to CUMBERLAND, MD

Hey I even saw a special edition ride like "ADVWolf's" all geared up with the big metal Paniers, and all the goodies, but I didn't have my platinum card with me. And they weren't too keen on the idea of a summer demo ride!
