For the last hour I sat and read this whole thing, all 17 pages.
I lived and spent some time at Raco, back in the day when it was operational, towards the last. I have seen part of the facility below ground.
I also spent some time, more than a little, at Kincheloe when it was busy with the B-52's and F-4's, then the FB-111's.
Seeing all those places you posted was like a dream. I would like to, before I leave this rock, go back to the UP and wander around on my dual sport.
That was an amazing time.

Seems like it was not that long ago that a couple of those bases were still operational. I'm glad that this brought back some pleasant memories for you. Hope you get the chance visit some of those places sometime soon.

Thanks. This is a ride well worth traveling some distance to get to. The UP is a real treasure. Probably my favorite place for dual sporting.

Great report. I spent a week in the UP last summer and it is even more beautiful in person.

I am looking at doing this trail sometime this summer. Might end up doing it solo but if some one wants a local guide I would be happy to help out.

Just got home from riding it with the wife. What a trip... 8 days out on the track. I loved it... the wife loved, well, most of it..

. She was very slow through some of the rougher stuff which put us a bit behind every day... then it was asphalt to the day's destination. She destroyed her front tire on the next to last day and didn't ride after that. I rode Gwinn to Presque Isle the last day and it was OUTSTANDING!

Thanks again Cannon for all your hard work... it was nice to haul the wife along on a planned route...even with the pavement we had to ride to get to the motels, I still loved every second UP there.

Check the UP photo tag... it's one of the pic stops off the route..

I'm glad you got to enjoy the route with your wife. I'm hoping she enjoyed it as much as you did. I too like that stetch you rode on the last day - some really nice stuff there. Now you can makes plans to knock of the Wisconsin-Michigan Adventure Trail.

I loved it... the wife loved, well, most of it... She was very slow through some of the rougher stuff which put us a bit behind every day... then it was asphalt to the day's destination. She destroyed her front tire on the next to last day and didn't ride after that. I rode Gwinn to Presque Isle the last day and it was OUTSTANDING!
