Really glad you enjoyed the ride! I assume you rode the small/medium dual sport route. Looking forward to reading about your experience!

2 Days on the UP

Cannonshot
I spent 2 days riding the UP recently. I did a loop of the easten end and had a great time. I was by myself on a big bike and was conservative in my riding. I didn't want to be under the bike in a beaverpond but with the BBGA's and all the planning and research that Bryan had done the trip was a breeze. Kudos to Cannonshot for all his hard work and willingness to share. I'd like to go again and complete the rest of the loop.

Hi Mark,

I'm glad you enjoyed the eastern loop and I think you'll be at least as equally entertained on the western loop.

I was curious to hear how it went for someone on a big bike. I tried to keep it entertaining throughout, but I realized that some of the sections would be unreasonably difficult for big bikes to negotiate (at least while still keeping it fun). That was the idea behind putting in alternate BBGA (big bike go-arounds). These will also work well for less seasoned riders on smaller bikes who don't enjoy wrestling with sand or some other difficulty that might detract from their fun.

Hopefully the points of interest were entertaining as well.

I have a lot of tracks in the UP, but the set-up for this loop is a balance of challenge, travel efficiency, points of interest, scenery, services, obscure two tracks, optional single track, gravel, and some entertaining paved runs.

2 day UP ride

Cannonshot

I did post a short RR in Day Tripping but hit a wrong key before I got the title complete. I was supposed to be "2 Days of Cannoshot's UPAT". Instead it reads "2 Days of". Unfortunatly not to descriptive. I'll know beter next time.

Heads up to people considering the UPAT in the near future. We have had a lot of high winds up here lately and there are many trees down all over. Be flexible for possible reroutes.

Ya, I found these ones on the weekend of June 26 just past were the trail crosses under I 75 north of Saint Ignace. They might be cleared by now though.

Talking Awesome

Just returned from a solo trip. Had a blast. I can't decide my favorite section, there are so many. I know I will be heading back again to re-ride some of them. Thanks a bunch for putting this together.

Always enjoy your photo shots and historical narratives since you posted the CDT...mapping....routing....! Just supper and of course brought the Pentax Optimo camera for inclement weather. Could you please entertain of what normal general setting you use on the Optimo as I don't seem to get too good pictures on the fly.

Thank you.....and cheers....

Figured I'd better go around. If I put mind down on it's side there all by myself I'd probably still be there.
