Your videos make me realize I use 5% of what the bike is capable of. And that is on a good day.

I would give anything to be in the heads of the guys on the small dirt bikes as you fly past them. You know their feeling good that their ripping it down the trail just to get smoked by a 990 2-up.

The guys being passed look like they are out for an easy day on the trail. Some riders just like to cruise.

heh, what makes you think we weren't cruising?
That is cruising speed on a 990...
(you do realize you're in Orange Crush, right? )

we were just having a nice day ride, too.
a sitting-down, riding double, trail ride on a big bike...

hell, Matt didn't even stand up once on this ride.

[QUOTE=LittleWan;22938925]Our 2007 990adv S is getting too ugly for the glamour s

400 miles of offroad riding over 2 days. Lots of sand and rocks.
We did the hard ways - many of the notes on the roll chart said "Not recommended for Adventure Bikes"
but we figured they were talking to the BMWs.

The 9x0 is just a big dirt bike, right?

There was a guy who had come over from Australia to do the ride.
He said they have the 1190 in Oz, but it's just not the same as the 990.
The 1190 is not quite up to the task.

So, here's a little video of us riding the hard ways, 2up...

Its been a few years since i have done the la/barstow/vegas ride. Looks like condition were perfect! Way to work the hard routes Two up?
You the man.

I enjoyed your video greatly. I ride a 990R and a 525EXC so I get it. I was just watching the riding of some of the small bikes and noticed that most of them were sitting down and just cruising. I have done rides like this and the talent ranges from 1-5 on the same scale. I admire you two a great deal.

Matt is an outstanding rider.

I'd say more that some of us enjoyed it, I would say ALL of us did!

Great video and riding, and showing what a 990 can do, even 2-up! Was there any taco's after?

That video kicked butt.

I need to ride more dirt and less freeway.
Something to look forward to in my retirement I guess.

Now, to go see how the new knobbies feel on a cold street.

Laugh Rally screen

I got the screen from Peter at http://www.screensforbikes.com/
All I can say now all the wind gets straight in to my face. And I don`t mind that. The touring screen was generating a weird spiral that was hitting my helmet pick thous I was struggling to keep my head facing forward. I don`t know if it works for others, but it works for me.

I have tried the standard and the KTM Touring screen as well as the Double screen mod and had no joy with them .
I use the standard screen but on long trips it would be nice to have the wind moved away from me a bit more .

On the best bike in the world.
Long live the 990/950 adventure!

Too many guys on little dirt bikes, not enough 990s, I guess.

BigWan and I just did the LA-Barstow to Vegas ride, and it was awesome.

Our riding partner (the organizers want everyone to have a "buddy") is on a 950adv S.
We met him just that day and he was great (Wendell from BC).

In case you are wondering, we turned around after waiting 30 minutes in the snowy rocks.
There were so many guys piled up, it was going to be a long wait.
After the logjam you see in the video, there were 2 more bottlenecks further up.
Oh well.
Too many guys on little dirt bikes, not enough 990s, I guess.

Great video Kelly. Thanks for posting.

Certainly a great video. It's amazing the speed this beast can achieve on a sandy track (AND on cruising mode like you said).
The morning footage is awesome too.
Funny when you ask on minute 18 "What is the problem?" in the middle of a rocky-muddy-snowy path

What onboard camera did you use?

Thanks for sharing. It makes the 950/990 more of a legend with each one of these videos.

Yeah, amazing riding.

Personally, I would avoid passing people on the right. A recipe for disaster.
