Thanks for the remarks. The rear is currently a stock Behr 4.25 but a re-lace to an Excel 3.50 is in the works prior to the big trip.

Sure.

Bought one each of these.

http://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/p/...cense%20holder

Hacked the new light to fit on the upper fender against the rear subframe once I cut off the stock mud guard/license plate mount along the lines of the subframe (kept the turn signals and their bases from the stock mudguard.) Then wired the taillight with a three pole weathertight connector. I think the LED's are just as bright as the stock light, it's just much smaller and less likely to be ripped off by me.

Viola!

What is this wet weather you speak of?

Nice work. Any shots with the light on, both running and brake?

I think the stock tail light is barely adequate at best. I'd much rather have something that really gets peoples attention.

Running.

Brake.

I don't think this would be your best option for getting people's attention. I'm a minimalist that was looking to tighten up the lines on the rear, which I think I've accomplished, but I don't think this light would scream out to an inattentive driver. A 6'4" dude on a tall orange and black bike should but even the totaled GSA that I was rear ended on didn't get the attention that was needed. BTW, thanks little old lady that totaled it, I knew not the error of my ways.

Perhaps this?

Had enough of my rear?

I'm assuming you wanted some high fender pics. Here's a close up of the fork protector.

New style guards. Made brackets from aluminum bar, drilled for stock rally fender mounting holes. Guard uses two forward holes the wrap around third hole was just cutoff. Bolts are counter sunk from the rear of the bracket and I used some kind of nut/washer thingy that I found at Lowes. 1/4x20 threads from what I remember. Fender is just a stock KTM 690 black fender.
