That road is amazing: 120km mixture of tight 180° twisties and long sweepers. The road itself is in impecable condition, traffic is almost inexistant, there are no traffic cops. But it's a dodgy road, with quite a bit of rock falls after the rain, lots of cattle, and kids throwing rocks at you. My mate on the Super Duke received one on the rear pannel.

fun

As xdbx mentioned, the Stelvio pass is in the Alps.
The one in the picture is a road built especially for the construction of a big dam in the mountains of Lesotho (a small sovereign kingdom). On the picture I took, I was already at about 3,200 m high. So there is ice and snow in winter. But somehow the tarmac doesn't give any signs of damage yet.

No, I don't know that road.
I am dreaming of doing the whole Alps (France, Italie, Suisse, Bavière) on a bike. A lot of RRs on this forum are very inspiring.

I towed a SE/R from Thaba Seka to Maseru through all those passes, and then at 155km/h (wide open throttle) to Bloemfontein. With my SE of course!

(talk about sucking fuel at a rate!)

Big time Congrats Dave!!!!

I'm looking forward to seeing the adventures you take on it, and it looks like it should be a very comfortable perch for your ADVson. Can I come down and ride with you?

We told ourseves that the next time we receive a stone, we'll go straight to the village chief and we won't be polite.
It's very hard to run after a little mountain boy in full leather and boots, and you can't see those kids. They're hiding all over the place.
