yeah, the old girl turned over 40,000 miles on the road home, just outside of Midland/Odessa, Texas of all places. Between the susequent weeks commuting and a great ride on Sunday, she's just rolled 41,000

I like the AT's. They're not much good in deep sand but most of this trip was highway, gravel roads, some rocky stuff and a little beach. It was close to 4000 miles all told, that would've meant limping home on a completely shagged TKC. I really love the special compound TKC's on the GS so It'll be interesting to see how they work on the 950. If I can get a good, true 5000 miles out of a rear without going down to the threads I'll be a happy man.

It took me about 30 minutes to throw a new tube in there, but I screwed up and forgot to lube the tyre when I put it back on so it wouldn't seat with the CO2 cartridges I had (once the pressure in the tube equals the pressure in the cartridge you're just wasting air). The sun was going down so instead of heading south like I wanted to, I went NW over to the Pacific coast and stayed in Guerrero Negro and aired it up at the PeMex the next morning

There's really no shortage of beaches to crash on though, there're spots like that every few miles. The tougher the road in, the more isolated they'd be. I'd try for the ones that were further from the highway as there's quite a bit of truck traffic at night, most using their engine brakes on the coast road descents.


...and go get that 950...my only regret was not getting one sooner

Even though i'm a Sunderland supporter in exile down here, and regularly make the trip up for the match, i really enjoyed the last minute header by Rio. You must have been at home watching a Man U game in the States.

Now that its mathmatically impossible for Sunderland to win the premiership, we can now concentrate to survival. I'd like to see Man U do the impossible and overhaul Chelsea.

Not just a good sense of humour but also being the eternal optimist helps. I quite enjoy relegation once you've got over the initial pain, because it gives you something to look forward to....promotion again, before the whole sad cycle starts again.

I used to live and work in Old Trafford about 500 yards from the ground so obviously pretty familiar with Salford as well.

What u doing out in the States? Living there or just wandering about?
