OH! Yer gonna finish your fooking report HERE?!

Saw your poor bike at Cutis' shop. "Geez!" I asked Curtis, "Shit! Who's bike is THAT? Looks like either it just came back from Alaska or it's been sittin out in somebody's back yard for a couple years."

What? You get those guys to steam clean the poor thing and shine her up?

Sevier??

Is this Sevier Dry Lake US 50 in Utah? I always wanted to ride that but didn't want to end up like this. Nice picture.

Crystal Peak Trail, south of Hwy 50, north of 21, west of 257, between Garrison and Black Rock.
...and yeah, no matter how tempting it looks, don't bother

I thought it was gonna be like Bonneville, was about 2 miles out before I realised it was 3" of snot covered by a 1" crust.
At first it felt like riding in deep sand, so I was up on the pegs doin' about 40 waiting for it to harden and thinkin' "how the hell do they run triple digit speeds on this shite?"

Got into a bit of a tankslapper but managed to save it by sitting down, crossing the bars, planting my right foot, and going into a nice smooth powerslide.
When I finally got her stopped, I'd done a 180 (you can just see the roost in the upper right) and could now see my tracks through the snot not cool
By this time, the tyres were caked, the front mudguard plugged, and the front wheel locked up.
After a few tries with the front acting like a skid, I finally got up enough speed to start slinging the crud from the front and freeing it up, but not after a few low speed get offs.
It was well over 100 degrees out there, and every time I tried to pick the bike up, either it, or my feet, would slip out from under me.

Greg, no bent subframe, each time it got out of shape, I managed to wrestle with it long enough to scrub off some speed and just step off.

A couple of mundane pics from this morning. That's Pike's Peak in Colorado (4,300 meters) in the background.

Man, I'm just not ready for winter, yet. Grip heaters are a good thing.

The last great photos remember me that it's time to a second round of my LC8 photos. These ones are of a last January trip to Mauritania, the first time we faced the Sahara without 4x4 support, but not the last...

Hope this time I'll write a little report soon...
