Wow! How far would it be between gas stops or is it more of an "out and back" exploration type of place...

The longest distance between the 2 gas stations in the highlands in one direction is 268km (F910 - Sprengisandur), if you take the more fun alternative route (not maintained track) its 318km. You can always find a possibility to make longer tours.
On the ring street around the island (asphalt) it is no problem to find gas stations, but I think nobody in here wants to go there .
You can also make explorations with a fixed base for 2-3 nights, we also did that twice, alot of this fine black dashed lines on the map

Brilliant stuff
They remind me of all the promo shots KTM did ...

Was it difficult to get your bikes into Iceland?
Iceland is definitely on my bucket list

Its a 48 hours ferry ride from Denmark (one way), and from my home 1500km to the harbor in Denmark we used this to get there. :)
We also visited the ice lake, but its not allowed to ride next to the lake or on the beach :(
You will have fun there with your safari tanks.

The ferry ride is not bad at all, but expensive - 940 per person and bike two ways and 6 for one beer

Todays ride, east of Amado Az. Hopefully I am helping cure the winter blues for those of you snowbound, I know alot of my recent pics are a bit boring but the riding has been pretty good for the most part. I am a pretty lousy photographer, many of this pictures look like its flat when a lot of this terrain is very steep and challenging for the big bike. Plenty of loose stuff in the wash's and low sides of the two tracks. Those of you riding southern Arizona know how challenging a lot of this stuff is, even plenty of areas that the 450 is challenged on - at least when I am at the helm, admittedly I am not a great rider. I love and miss Colorado riding, but thats still a couple months out ,so this is it for now.

Sandy wash ride- one of those areas where about the time you get your speed up and get on top of the sand-you need to turn. This area was nice and packed by a fleet of border patrol trucks, must have been some backpackers around.

one of those places that was a nice washed out loose hill climb- that looks pretty mamby-pamby in the pics.

Once on top-the terrain changes

Off to open a gate- here was a nice long run along a fence line.

heading off to the mountains in the back ground.

looking back at where I came from

up to the to the towers and beyond.

Some high speed gravel roads on the way back-snap while I ride.
