Here is one from our first multiday (three nights) 1100 miles, ride. The wife really enjoyed the trip and can't wait for this summer. Her favorite parts where the small dirt roads. Which where great but soft sand on a big dirt bike two-up gave me a workout. We almost went down twice and it give her a scare but wanted to keep going.

My job is ending sometime in March and thee aren't many jobs around here, think I might look out west for something. The 990 would be much happier out there.

Absolutely awesome

Would love to see more
On the back I mounted two 1,5 liter fuel friend canisters http://www.fuelfriend.de/images/fuel...r_600breit.JPG on each side with the Touratech holder. 2 fit in one holder when you use egg crate foam as spacer and damper. The sharp edge of the belt holder must be protected with rubber, otherwise the belts are torn on the gravel tracks. I did not want the black canisters, because I had made bad experience with changing temperature and fuel expansion in the alps. The fuel friend canisters worked great and gave me the extra mileage, one stock tank filling was burned in 200km.

Wow! How far would it be between gas stops or is it more of an "out and back" exploration type of place...

The longest distance between the 2 gas stations in the highlands in one direction is 268km (F910 - Sprengisandur), if you take the more fun alternative route (not maintained track) its 318km. You can always find a possibility to make longer tours.
On the ring street around the island (asphalt) it is no problem to find gas stations, but I think nobody in here wants to go there .
You can also make explorations with a fixed base for 2-3 nights, we also did that twice, alot of this fine black dashed lines on the map

Brilliant stuff
They remind me of all the promo shots KTM did ...

Was it difficult to get your bikes into Iceland?
Iceland is definitely on my bucket list

Its a 48 hours ferry ride from Denmark (one way), and from my home 1500km to the harbor in Denmark we used this to get there. :)
We also visited the ice lake, but its not allowed to ride next to the lake or on the beach :(
You will have fun there with your safari tanks.

The ferry ride is not bad at all, but expensive - 940 per person and bike two ways and 6 for one beer
