first pic of the 2007 990s now that it's mine, just down the road from where i picked it up... at the start of what ended up being an epic 12 hour ride from San Diego to San Jose yesterday.

random question of the day - does anyone know if the newer (lockable) storage compartment between the tanks from the newer 990's (10-12, i think?) are compatible with the 2007 models? ie: would it be a drop-in replacement part, or is the touratech "lock" the only method of locking said compartment?

Very nice mate, mines the same colour, can you tell me about the high fender conversion, do you know what componants have been used.

Congrats on the new bike!

The easy answer to your question would be to look at the Microfiche and compare the lock mechanisms. For the '11, that lock is a part of the seat lock mechansim (turn key one way to lock/unlock compartment, other to unlock the seat).

Only vague info because that's all my swiss-cheese brain retained since each of the parts sat around my garage so long before being recently installed.

I think the tail light was either purchased from KTM Twins some time ago, or I got tired of waiting for them to get one in stock and sourced it somewhere else. In any case it looks like KTM Twins don't carry it any more but there are Rumble Concept units available online and one or two other brands. It includes integrated turn signals.

The small LED blocks above the tag light came from Aerostitch, again some time ago and they've made the rounds on several of my bikes before recently ending up on the KTM. They are supplemental brake lights that flash increasingly fast until they come on solid. I'm pretty sure they're the ElectroPods #4636 on the Aerostitch site.

The LED turn signals were an ebay purchase and were listed as replacements for the Aprillia SVX550, but they look nothing like the turn signals on my SXV550. They were cheap so I grabbed all six that were on auction. They also sat around in my spare parts collection before I decided to put a pair on the back of the 990ADV. I like them so much that another pair is going on the front as soon as I have occasion to pull the fairing.

Anyway, it's quite a light show back there now. I hope it all works together to actually improve conspicuity, rather than sending drivers into an epileptic fit so they sail into the back of my bike without ever touching the brakes!

Eek

I've been thinking about tan a lot lately. Though I was having evil thoughts of doing the entire skeleton in cerecote tan and leaving my stock black bodywork. ( frame, subframe, pegs, sqingarm, engine casing, everything)
