Bellw Isle Florida is it a dangerous area
Over in the US with my family on holiday and chose a great time for my first visit to Florida as I was able to travel up to the biketoberfest in Daytona and see all the bikes.Biggest even I have ever been to and that includes the Isle of Man TT.
However travelling back to Orlando last night after visiting the Kennedy Space Centre my three little grandchildren felt hungry so we pulled off the autoroute and found one.My daughter whilst I was parking rushed out to order and immediately felt threatened when she went in when she say a fella just about to walk around the other side of the counter and heard another say to someone on his cell phone " yer they are on holiday" and when I walked in he glanced over his shoulder at me and continued to speak on the phone at the same time.So having noticed that when my daughter told me what she had heard I just said lets go and we sped away in our car. We are now feeling seven lucky people but I would be interested to learn from anyone if this is a known trouble spot.

Sorry man, i can't totally understand what you are trying to say. "on holiday" really isn't something we say in the US, would just be called vacation... Not really sure what happened or what you think was happening.

Very alert and prudent response. While I can't say I've heard anything about the Belle Isle area in particular, it's a well known tactic of thugs in S. Florida to home in on rental cars because they know that most people driving them won't be armed since they probably flew in.
"Although carjacking has been made a federal crime, several states also have legislation on the subject. One is Florida, which has a big tourist industry. In the late 1980s and early 1990s, an increasing number of tourists, most of them foreign, were victims of carjackings in Florida. Because tourists in well-marked rental cars were common carjacking victims, Florida passed legislation in 1993 (F.S.A. § 320.0601) that outlawed company logos and license plates that made rental and leased cars obvious. Florida's legislators felt that tourists warranted this extra protection for three main reasons. First, tourists are, more often than not, unfamiliar with the area and are more likely to become lost or end up in a high-crime area. Second, tourists often carry more cash than natives, which makes them prime robbery targets. And finally, fewer tourists are likely to return and testify in court about a crime. By granting tourists the right to drive unmarked rental cars, Florida made them less vulnerable to the crime of carjacking.

Yep. I think Florida has been listed in The World's Most Dangerous Places for like 800 years running. The CIA World Factbook too.
We're right up there with Colombia and Bogota and Kandahar and Paris and Las Vegas and Frankfort, Kentucky, even.
Get out while yr still alive! They have ATGATT biker gangs too down there. They huff human feces and ride scooters and drink beer, i hear.

Better safe than sorry...
The last thing we need is another tourist robbed or worse....I work in the tourism industry so I am affected by what happens to visitors..
I hope you enjoyed your visit otherwise...
