Texas - Good riding between Albuquerque and S. Padre Island?

I am taking my family from home in Albuquerque down to S. Padre Island next week, arriving the day after memorial day (last week of May). I was wondering if I should take my dirtbike along (Husaberg FE570), are there are any good areas along the way to camp + ride? Normally I go for National Forests but there are hardly any in West Texas.

The bike is plated in NM. Would I still need a TX OHV sticker or anything like that?

I did this trip about 4 years ago and we went out of our way to see Big Bend but it was unbearably hot so we only got in a short hike and that part of the trip was a bust.

Cloudcroft?

Seriously, there is nothing other than private land on the Texas side. There may be a few places to ride, but they are going to be out of the way and not very exciting compared to what you are used to. Escondido Draw is the only one that comes to mind. I'd save myself the hassle and leave the bike and gear at home.
