There are a lot of great camping places in N AR but you'll need to be more specific about where and the type of camping you want to do. You can rough camp any where in Ozark NF for free, unless you camp in the parks.

Thx...nlp

yeah where and when?

I have a couple of favorite spots, but you need to narrow the scope a bit.

Don't mean to but in BUT- old guy (65), the Mrs. and 1 big ass dog planning to do some tent camping near Eureka Springs probably 2nd/ 3rd week in September. Like to be near the water. Momma insists on showers and indoor plumping. Like to do some hiking and maybe floating. Any suggestions? TIA

real nice little camp ground right on the river below Beaver Dam, about 7 miles out of ES..this camp ground is in the middle of a pine tree grove...real easy to find..hwy 62 west out of ES to hwy 182..drive across the dam and turn into the park entrance. (hwy 182 makes a loop and connects to hwy 62 in two places so if you miss the first turn, just continue west on 62 to the next turn onto hwy 182)

Eureka Springs

Camped outside of Eureka Springs at a KOA…it got too close to dark so I did the quick and easy. On my way out this morning I saw the Beaver Dam exit, just 2 miles further.

KOA was nice though.

Thanks to all. In Bentonville tonight then camping near Monroe LA tomorrow night.

Happy Labor Day.

Cool2 breeze

That little peninsula on the other side of hiway 187 at the end of Beaver Park Rd. is nice in the summer. No matter which way the wind blows, it is coming off the water.

Okay...the transplanted yankees haven't chimed in, so I have decided it's my duty to respond...

There is no northern Arkansas. There is only an upper portion of Arkansas that is closer to the purveyors of northern aggression than those unfortunates living in missouri (a.k.a. misery).

That said, having established that the best camping sites are ANYWHERE the custodians have spread tick, flea, and chigger granules (please note the Oxford comma in use) at 1 ton per acre minimum, be prepared to commune with nature, mosquitoes, snakes, biting flies, buffalo gnats, and the joyous sounds of frogs, cicadas, and hillbillies in heat. (Be advised: drunken hippie chicks can raise volume levels above advisable levels of pain thresholds.)

In summation, while some might consider my views insular, be aware that most inhabitants of Louisiana (lousyana) consider anything above I-10 to be "the north." (See appropriate wikipedia references for confirmation.)

I was therefore in very southern Missouri…

reminds me of my 35 years groing up in Texas…basically you were from Texas or you were not…PERIOD.
