Need Bike recon in Dallas

All,

Looking at a 82 Yamaha XS650 in Dallas (oakcliff area).

Need a keen pair of eyes and ears to give me a third party report on the bike before I drive down and buy. Seller is fine with me sending a recon to check it out.

Gladly paypal a few bucks for your time and observations.

Bike in question:

Oak Cliff isn't exactly the place most people want to go to. I know I don't. Sorry.

I could help you out but not until next Friday/Saturday (week from now). Hit me up if that's the best you can do. No funds needed, just maybe a cup of coffee if I end up in your neck of the woods one day.

I was in Mountain View Ark. a few weeks ago. What a cool place.

Got in a few jam sessions downtown on Sat. night.

I might retire there someday......

***I did post this in the regional forums. Going for blanket coverage.

Really? I think letting the O.P. know the bike is located in generally a bad area is useful information, certainly worth considering before pursuing the bike further.

Oak Cliff has pretty much become the Bishop Art District and is one of the areas my wife and I frequent. Its not suburbia but it is not an intimidating place to visit.

How regularly do you make it into the area?

Been nearly 10 years since I last wandered through Oak Cliff but at that time and all through 10 years before that. that I know of, I wouldn't go through there unless I was packing heat. Surely any bike sold there would likely be stolen or a clapped out POS stunt ride.

So, are you saying the area and demographic has changed for the better?

Oak cliff is now a favorite hipster hangout. There are places I wouldn't want to go and places I go a few times a month.

Dave, Oak Cliff stretches from I-30 down to I-20 and covers nearly 90 square miles. I can assure you all of it isn't like the twenty blocks or so of the Bishop Art District.
