gdday all, just wondering if anyone has had any problem with lose spokes on there s 10's??? i did about a 1000 ks on the sunday of the "SNOWY RIDE" on the weekend ( 300ks on very rough dirt. and had 4 spokes come lose . as in less than finger tight. i put the alan key on the spokes the night before i left and all was good. my bike has about 7200ks on it and i have followed the owners service guide in regards to the wheels and i have had spokes that needed a 1/4 to 1/2 turn nip up but nothing like this. any though's on this would be most useful. cheers , cams.

Do the stock spokes have an adhesive like Loctite on the threads? If not you can get the correct adhesive at a local bicycle shop that builds wheels. The adhesive will prevent/reduce the spoke(s) from loosening.

the spokes dont have any locktite or nylock adhesive. that will be the next thing for me to do. i do think that there is a problem here. something that yamaha need to have a look at because the damage that could be done could run into the thousands

Well I finally found an XT1200 at dealership to check out. Beautiful bike. But I'm not sure I'd want a 1200 dual sport. Seems like the 800cc Tiger or BMW would be big enough for me on the dirt and still be street worthy enough for the long haul.

I'm lucky that I don't need to commute to the the offroad riding, my little dual sports are all I need for my local riding. But "sooner or later" I'll have to get a big one too. They sure look fun.

more spokes

more news on the lose spokes front. a mate of mine had a spoke come out in the rear wheel ....... it cut a 4mm grove in the swing arm and ruined the rim. after a short discussion with him that night, we come up with the idea that zip ties on the spokes and loctite on the nipples would be the only way to go.

The Blue SuperT has a Nose below the headlights. Is this one of a kind or available for purchase. Looks nice.

Yes, I've lost one nipple and others were close. Lots of off road and didn't check them.

Bent both wheels and will be sending them off for a straightening and true.

When I get them back it will be a dose of green lock-tite and check them more often.

thanks for the link. i found the info very interesting. i think Yamaha will do something in the end because there seems to be too many riders will this problem and the fact that it is possible for a spoke to cut a front brake line intensify's the issue.
