UQ porn

Heres a pic of my newish Underground UQ its a Zeppelin 20f.
Its cut a little wider than the avg UQ.

Gotta love cottage industries, some of them make awsome stuff.

Heres a comparison of the UG full / HG 3/4 in their respective bags.
Both are 20f underquilts, oh and thats a 1 litre bottle.
Guess I need to sweep more

By the time I decided to pull the trigger on a full UQ, Hammockgear had had their sale
and was booked out. So I discovered Underground Quilts, liked his offering, website and
some of his trip reports. Seemed like a stand up person. Price was slightly less than a HG,
but the main selling point was the slightly wider cut. The quilt can hang slightly off and I
dont have to fiddle with it at 3am..

For spring and summer I've got a HG 3/4 phoenix (also well made). That packs smaller,
if thats a concern. For winter you can beat a full UQ. I'll post a pic of it in the small bag,
providing I can get it in it. Like getting a cat in a pet carrier.

on cottage industries, off here and HF. Really impressed with the quality, service
and hey ..... made in USA..

I've been looking for a simpler way to camp while on the road and the Hammocks have caught my attention.

I've narrowed things down to a Hennessy Explorer Deluxe as I'm 230lbs 6'1".

My question is regarding the conventional style or the side zip.
I'm sure it's more personal preference but I was going to go with the zip but they are not available at the moment. I'd be curious to hear from anyone who has experience with both.

I purchased a Hennessy Explorer deluxe with bottom entry, decided I didn't like it and had a side zipper added by http://www.2qzqhammockhanger.com/index.html best 35.00 I ever spent. The bottom entry just never worked for me at all.

i have the bottom entry and think I'd like to try the zip. i dont really have any beef with the bottom entry, just think the zip could be a nice option....i think best would be to have both, so may send mine for the mod.

Same reason I ended up with a HH btm entry. It has worked for me. Lil bit of hassle to adjust your under quilt or bottom insulation middle of the nite.
Also tough to make coffee from the hammock. Personally I dont, I get out and away from the whole set up. Otherwise I'd burn it down

+1 on the hennessy site. I emailed last sunday and they emailed me right back.
I wanted the explorer zip and it was on backorder until march.
I contemplated the Warbonnet Blackbird but wasn't sure it was worth the extra $$, so I ended up scooping a used Explorer deluxe bottom entry from Hammock forums. I'll make sure I like hammock then maybe get a mod4 .

Hammockforums seems to be as good of a site as this one.

WBBB is well worth the $$. Once you pay for the HH and the mods you've spent about as much.......................
