Rural Texas
This was a trip I took a while back and never got around to posting. Some of the photos are probably out of order.
The Panhandle doesn't look too appealing on the map but there is some pretty cool country. Great sidehack roads! The night before I departed we had a huge thunderstorm. I awoke to see my neighbors trailer missing its' ass end. Wind blew the tail off. The "mini storage" building next door didn't fair much better: If you are a fan of old decrepit structures and other assorted derelicts you'll love the Panhandle. This was likely a flourishing gas stop in its' day. I passed a couple of old restored gas stations along the way. Not selling gas though. This old church was likely the corner stone of the community in the past. Grain business must be slow. Ambulette? Probably a low mile truck. Barn Fresh Merc. with new wheels. The guy drove up in this when I was hanging around. I love the steering wheel...Ralph Nader would roll over in his grave. A Pre-windmill wind generating design. The panels were still spinning but appeared to be no wiring anymore. The thing caught my attention a few miles away as the sun was hitting the panels. A little Toasty outside. Still Christmas across the street: Parked for the night. Copper Breaks. A Raccoon visited me in the night. I had left a soft cooler on the table with some beef jerky in it. He couldn't figure out the zipper. Hot, humid night and the insects were literally raining out of the trees as I sat out at the table after dark. No gas here either. or here. seen better days: Ran into this bunch on a Sunday ride. Barely a muffler in the group. Palo Duro Canyon Frikken water gauge lied...pretty deep when I went through. Opel GT's must come here to die... Motorcycle Rip Rap... Motorcycle art: got home just in time for the next storm.

Pre Windmills
I recognize some of the places having ridden the area a while back. The "pre windmills" can be seen several miles away as you said. They gave my rider and I a "Whut n the hail is that" moment.
Thanks for the report and pics.
