What's the torx size for the oil drain plug? Gotta get one. I love that the tool kit consisted of a single allen key.

Just came in from changing the oil, it's a 12mm hex.

I left the lower cowl thingy off this time, all it does it make it harder to get at the filter.

Checked the valves again, they didn't move...ain't gonna check them for many more miles...maybe to 20,000 miles.

Found the easiest way to check the valves.

GSXR shock isn't a bolt in, damn close, gonna noodle on it and come up with a solution.

All back together, started swapping the blinkers out for some little LED's that I had and I left the grab handles off...don't need them.

Seat clears the plastics just fine, probably could have just left it on for the seat build.

12mm, thanks. It was getting dark and looked like a torx. I think the largest allen key I have is a 10...

12mm socket, sorry, I might have had a few.

Hmm, had to go back out. I was looking at the wrong side of the bike

Ok, time to warm the bike back up. Sunday night, I hope the neighbors don't mind.

...got the oil changed. That was pretty painless, though a few of the cowling bolts did not come out easily. The heads nearly stripped out. Definitely using anti-seize when it goes back on. Didn't warm the bike up a whole lot. Just let it idle a couple minutes and it was still cool when it came out. But that 10w is pretty thin stuff and I tapped the starter a few times to get more out of the system. Got a few more ounces that way. I'll do the rest of the checkup Tuesday when I have some time.

LoJack screwed with this post 08-26-2012 at 11:20 PM Reason: Oil change done

Have you thought about painting the silver bits red? Just asking, someone did that to a new gold wing and made it look even better. It really changes the look of a bike.

Sendler, what did you do to change your gearing? One tooth bigger up front? I'm thinking of doing this to help economy, but also to lower the rpm's to try and reduce vibe's at certain speeds.

I'm really liking this bike. I think it's what is keeping me happy, having to ride it 100 miles a day. When it gets colder and sketchier I'll have to switch over to four wheels, but for a while I might be able to do three on my Dnepr a couple days a week. It's not quite as fast as the CBR, though.

Plus 1 tooth in the front is a no brainer for a highway commuter on this bike but the availability is very poor. WeBike in Japan has them but the price and shipping is outrageous. PMP sprockets gets them occasionally but their supplier must not like to make them for some reason as they are always sold out. I also have a -2 tooth 36T sprocket in the rear from PMP but that is getting pretty long.

I'm not much into paint and looks, I owned a Buell once.

I think it'd pretty tough to match the red with the flake in it too.

Color Rite has a reputation for having colors that match very well... if you can get past the prices.

Yep, I have checked out their prices trying to match my trailer to the color of my goldwing. 33 bucks for ONE CAN of SPRAY paint.... I gave up on that idea.
