There are some good numbers starting to come in for the CBR500R on Fuelly.

I thought the new Ninja300 would be a little higher than this.

I was looking at the 500's at the dealer the other day, they had a couple of versions of it in stock, the price is right and the size is good but the fuel economy well that's very neat to see.

Don't gloss over that 32 mpg number for the 500 in that graph. It's probably closer to the truth than the rest.

One of the first bikes sold was in Thailand, regular rider, just bombing around, was getting about 45mpg us. That sounds about right to me if you're really using it.

The good numbers are from the ninja300 riders. It's a big enough group, that doesn't really care about recording 'good' numbers, and it shows a big range.

The 500 riders name their bike like White Powder Puff and barely twist the throttle at all. The 500 group at fuelly is not big enough to give a good representation of what the bike may give for all types of riders.

My EX500 would always get better than 55mpg, mostly low 60's and the best I did was 70.

Great bike. Faster than the Honda too.

Yeah and that 9 mpg for the 300s... very likely what you'll experience with real world mileage...

Don't be silly. That grouping at 49 mpg for the 300 is a good indicator of hard riding and big riders. Right in line for what I got on the CBR250R.

Not really enough data on the 500 yet, mostly rubbish.

Larry, what's the update on your buddy, how's he liking the bike?
I hope he doesn't make the same commute you did

He has a healthy fear of motorcycling right now, but he's daily riding it to work. About a 20 mile round trip. He and his bro-n-law took the MSF course together and they are both saying the same thing....this is scary stuff and we're glad we got smaller bikes!!

Got a text the other day...it slipped in a corner!!! I reminded him that I gave him a new rear tire, put the damn thing on already!!!

He put the stock mirrors back on because they look cool and he said he can't see a damn thing out of them either.

He doesn't care about mpg's, said he has filled it up twice now.

My wife decided to upgrade from her Honda Ruckus this past weekend. We randomly decided to just go to a few different local bike dealers on Saturday we had not intention of buying anything. We were going around killing some time when we go to the Honda Dealer they had a 2012 Black CBR250R sitting outside. My wife sat on it and really liked how it felt, she said she would trade her Ruckus in for one of these if she could.

I sat down with the dealer and made him an offer that I did not think he would accept and what do ya know he accepted it haha. The bike only has 240 miles on it so it is practically brand new.

She has been enjoying learning in open parking lots and is excited to learn more. This is her first bike and I am planning on putting her through the MSF course.

Here are a couple of pictures of her new toy. I already ordered her a fender eliminator kit for it.

aw, heck, if you want a Honda CBR250R just go out and get one and then ride the wheels off it and decide if it works for you or not. If not, sell it and try something else. Repeat until you are either out of money, or in bike nirvana, or you've been given a permanent pass to the nut farm.

Now, since this forum is all about adventuring and less about commuting or riding around town (although I know a couple of guys for whom riding around the block is a huge adventure...and poses a risk to life and limb ) it seems like a good time to mention an inmate who took his Ninja 250 on quite a little spin....from Texas.........to Argentina.........and IIRC he's 6' 4" or so........and....he had his girlfriend riding on the back......and.....they carried full camping kit. And again, IIRC, after riding on the back of that little bike all the way to BA, where they sold it....she cried.....she loved that bike so much.

No pics up anymore, more's the pity.....all I can say is ya shoulda been there when he was posting it!
