that's an S10 with a hole knocked in the oil pan while on one of the easier BRT roads last week. yes, it did have a skid plate at the time.

I'll bet all kinds of "should'a" kind of things are running through your mind after you do that to your pretty new bike.

Just cause it has knobbies doesn't mean it can or should try going everywhere the little off-road bikes can. You've got to remember that there's a difference between a "dual sport" and an "adventure". About 150-200 lbs of difference.

Hi,
Sorry if this is a stupid question. I'll be visiting my bro in VA in November. Is November an ok time to explore the BRT? Too cold to camp? Snow?
I really love the pics.

Too Cold to camp is a very relative question as it gets pretty cold in the mountains at night, but there shouldn't be any snow around there in November. It could happen, but not very likely.

Parking...

I'm planning a trip to ride about 2.5 days worth of trails and Blue Ridge Parkway the first or second weekend in Oct (depending on weather). The bikes will be trailered to somewhere around Front Royal. A loop will go from there, basically taking 1 day going down Skyline and the BRP and then 1.5 days working our way back up on trails, camping all three nights. Does anyone know where I could leave the car and small trailer for 2.5 days near Front Royal that would be secure? I was thinking about one of the campgrounds, but it looks like it's prohibited on the Park Service ones.

thorinoakenshield - depends on your tolerance for cold. The road system is traditionally even more accessible during the fall with the caveat of hunting in most areas the route runs through. Blaze orange is your friend.

elmo_4_vt - lots of friendly land owners in the area. Post up in the South East regional forum and I am sure you will find someone willing to lend a parking spot.

I am caught up on PMs at the moment. Happy riding y'all -- this is the best time of year in my opinion.

Hi David;

Just a quick note to advise I have received the Blue Ridge Trail map files a few days ago. Thanks so much. I am not sure when I can get my KLR out to that area, but it will occur sometime. Thanks in advance for your work on this.

Hi David,

Received the latest version of the BRT -- thanks!

I rode most of it north of Covington over the September 1,2,3 weekend. I'll get some photos and video posted. All was good, and passable with my KLR.

Chris
