I disagree somewhat. DCNR has been on a deep-gravel spreading binge on the Michaux roads. Lots of them now have a couple inches of fresh loose gravel. Anyone planning a ride that would include street bikes should ride that route to see if the gravel is going to be an issue.

Most of the gated roads stay closed year-round. Piney Mountain Ridge Road is now open all the way from 30 up to Bendersville Road just before Pine grove Furnace State Park. It will be closed again come fall, as it is each year.

Ran into two new riders in Michaux this morning, one riding a white XT250, who was from Cold Springs Road near Barnitz and Mount Holly Springs and the other was Jim riding a red, white and blue XL650L from Shippensburg, neither had ever heard of ADVRider, let alone our Photos from Michaux S.F. thread, now they have!

Thanks to Jeff "SoPaRider" we now some Michaux routes to share.
Jeff does his work (old school) on paper. He gave me a packet he calls "The Best of Michaux" which included routes 12, 13 and 15. I transposed them into GPX files with Garmin Basecamp, then provided the routes as part of the Trans PA Trail file. http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=594569 See first page, first post for file location and Change log. Thanks Jeff. Edit: Please, Lets keep the Michaux route discussions on this thread and the Trans PA Trail route discussion on the other thread :)

It was not that bad out there today (even with ATGATT). 93 in the middle of the towns (Chambersburg) and around 83 on the stone roads. Its even nicer if you start early in the mornings, I think we has 68 degs this morning when I got up, but I let the Nephew sleep for a while.
We have been riding every day for the last 6 days. I guess my body is getting used to the heat. Just carry plenty of water, force yourself to drink and fill it back every time you stop. I think we rode 6 hours today for a total of 125 miles. A lot more traffic then I am used to, but that was probably 4th of July traffic. Most of the cabins you pass are occupied. It was real busy down by the lake. No dust. Thursday night we had 2 storms come through. Some places got it pretty hard. In Buchannan forest there was places limbs were blown across the roads but I saw no damage in the areas of Michaux we went through. Even this afternoon the potholes still had water in them still. But we saw no ADV bikes today. My bike has to go home tomorrow, so everybody have a safe and fun weekend riding Michaux ![]() Required Photo Content: This is over in Buchanan Forest. My Nephew has been riding with me all week. I think he's hooked ![]() ![]() this is in Michaux ![]() ![]() ![]() Pulling into Shippinsburg

Overlook
That overlook looks to be Dark Hollow. I passed by there at about 2 this afternoon. The road appears to be Milesburn Road. Didn't see any other riders today either.
