Lots of DNR police running the roads yesterday. If you do get caught running illegal stuff it is theirs and you get a tickets in return. |

I'm sure you noticed most are KTM's. The fact that when you buy one of their bikes the certificate of origin does not state off road only makes them a little easier to slide through the titling process. Although in PA it is still possible to get a title for an off road only machine. Somewhat of a pain but possible.

"ONLY ATV'S WITH THREE OR MORE WHEELS ARE PERMITTED MOTORCYCLES AND TRAILBIKES ARE NOT PERMITTED"The above is written on the Michaux State Firest ATV trail map. I'm just wondering, does my 2 wheel drive Ural with a sidecar count as an ATV? I really want to ride it on those ATV trails... 1) It has 3 wheels. 2) its 2 wheel drive. Has anyone ridden a sidecar rig on the Michaux ATV trails? Do you think the DNR / Cops would ticket a sidcar rig on the ATV trails?? |

No need to speculate. Call or visit the PADCNR.

Thanks for the link, I was unable to find their email address for the PA DCNR.
I just sent them an email, asking if motorcycles with sidecars are allowed on the ATV trails. I also specifically asked about the 2 wheel drive Urals, since if sidecars in general are not allowed, they might be. I'll post the response here. |

I got a response back from the PA DCNR:
No motorcycles of any kind are allowed on the ATV trails. No sidecar rigs or trike conversions. The only 3 wheelers they allow are off-road three wheelers (2 in the back 1 in the front) that left the factory as such. Well, at least now we know. The only off road trails for motorcycles / dirt bikes I know of are in Bald Eagle State Forest in Pa. You can check them out on the park's website... but that would be for a different thread. |

The first night we got there around 4am, and we just set up on Michaux Rd between ridge Rd and the AT, right by the road.
The second night I slept in a little clearing across from the vista on snowy tower road |

I assumed you needed to pay rent a camp site, but if you can just pitch a tent anywhere thats awesome!
Is is legal to just camp where ever you want in Michaux? |
