So, how many of us are meeting where for this Saturday's ride?

Same place, same time.

Waynesboro, PA. The McDonalds. I'll be there by 9:00ish, and we'll plan on rolling out at 10:00.

Still planning on being there for this ride tomorrow, in spite of a hurricane coming later on.

I've got the north route we followed last week loaded in my GPS, so I could lead that direction readily enough.

My thinking is for a leasurely ride so we can gawk at the colors and such, stopping at various scenic spots, and maybe some serious discussions at intersections of interesting cross roads. This would place us at Mt Holly Springs for lunch at the very north end of Michaux. There is a Subway, and a Sheetz gas station there.

We could then pour over the map while eating lunch, and decide how we wanted to come back down. I'm inclined to figure out some of the western side dirt roads for that. Again, enjoying the sights and views.

Sounds like sound resembling a plan. It'll never work, but I'm in.

2. To ignore an event until the last minute so as to avoid any expectations of attendance, but then show up anyway.

I got a late start, rode in starting at Mt. Holly Springs on Ridge Road thinking I might run into the group somewhere in the forest. I never saw you guys, and no other bikes in Michaux at all. There were three dual-sports in the parking lot at Pine Grove Furnace camp store. I had the forest roads to myself other than bow hunters in pickups.

It was cloudy, but the last of the color was there, especially in the valleys. I guess when Sandy blows through, even those leaves will be gone.

Had a nice ride. Lost one almost immediately; Besecker Gap Rd shook one bike apart. Other than that, the biggest problem was gates and road closed signs.

Met up with a few ADV folks while fueling at the Mt Holly Sheetz, and one guy on Rattlesnake Run Rd waiting for his buddy to return with gas.

Saw one rider heading north on Ridge Rd. At least, we think we saw him. Just a couple hundred yards ahead of us, then we got around the next bend and he was gone. Never did see him again. Way too close to Halloween for stuff like this!

OH, pics will be posted shortly.

Out of an XRL? You should run Anti Seize on the inside splines of that sprocket.

Look at the bright side, it could have been the clutch and or output shaft on an R BMW :(

Well, if you were wearing a white helmet, slow down and let us catch up! Whom ever it was, took off like a shot as we were slowly overtaking them. Just plain gone!

I'd speculate we ran into the same three riders up at Holly Springs when we gassed up at something like 1.

Twas a fun ride. Almost no color and most of the leaves were off the trees, but that meant you could see further. The park was indeed quite empty. Maybe everyone was getting ready for Sandy, dunno.

Wasn't me. I stayed home to prep for Sandy's visit . next trip up might be to bring my RV home for the winter.
