I don't understand this. Gaz is smoothy but 1% isnecessary.
If you cut throttle it's bad!

Isn't there a screw to adjust first butterfly off position?
I know that i've seen it... But how will be iddle after this adjust?

Maybe the screw put so more butterfly off...?

tuneECU rocks

I finally had time to get to the garage to fiddle around. Pulled the L tank, drilled the access hole to externally access the TPS screw, set it cold to .66. Put it mostly back together. Loaded the stock US 07-08 (I had the 06 Akra that gave me the snatchiest throttle ever inspite of a G2 with the 400 cam) and did the 15 min reset.

On reconnect, the only problem was that my 0% throttle TPS fell to .59. 96% was in spec. It could have been that the bike had just finished its 15 min reset and was hotter than normal. Oh well, I'll reset it when I dig out the SAS and canister when the weather truly sucks.

All that said, I took it for a ride and it was a new bike. I feel sorry for the PO who put up with that shitty 06 Akra map for so long. The dealer must have put it in when the twin FMFs were installed. Still abrupt on throttle, but manageable. A few weekends ago I ran the thing up one of our local fireroads and thought I was gonna die! Crazy fast on throttle response.

I can ride around this fueling for the time being. I first want to get a mpg figure before I try the updated Akra map. What I'm really waiting for is the 2-1 wings for the 08 990 that someone is rumored to have sometime in Oct as those parts are kinda sitting in the garage...

Tom and Alain, Thank You Both.

Quick question. Sounds like we tuned sort of the same way with similar results. I haven't changed the secondary map yet. Did you change every box on the secondary map that was 0 to 10? Have you since tried 14?

Thoughts?

Can you describe foot by foot how you adjust the TPS sensor?

Bike was warm up?
Do you have put the option "adjust throttle cam" on before you adjust the sensor? the electric motor modify TPS value !

What TPS values do you have with 100% throtlle cam and for 0% ??
Thanks for your help !!

Removed L tank and airbox cover.
Drilled hole in airbox so that I could adjust the TPS. I had a sheet metal protector covered in tape to catch the plastic bits falling into the airbox.
Loosened the TPS adjustment screw and set it to .66 volts cold
Tightened the screw to secure the TPS. Voltage fell to .64. I had to re-loosen the TPS screw as the voltage fell too low when tightened so the cold reading was .66.
Taped over the hole in the airbox.
Remounted the L tank.
Loaded the 07-08 stock map. took about 30 seconds.
15 min reset.
TPS fell to .59 warm. I left it. 96% throttle was 3.67 or 3.68 I believe.

I didn't put the option "adjust throttle cam" before TPS adjustment.

Hope this helps. What have you done to your bike so far?

Went to order a cable this morning, DSW says they are back ordered... Does anyone know when they might be available again? Does anyone have one they would like to sell me? I don't know how much longer I can handle the silly things my bike is doing!!

Where do you have read this manipulation and base values? There is some note about 950' but for our 990' nothing !

Are you sure that are the right values?

I'll try tomorrow to read TPS cold value and modify it if it's necessary !

Further feedback on the Power-trip akra map...

Did 1243 miles over three days last weekend, almost entirely pavement. Elevations from 1500 feet to nearly 9000.

Just love the way this thing is running! Sounds great, runs great. Conditions varied from straight steady running to highly aggressive twisties in the Sierras; it was a pretty representative mix of how I ride this thing on pavement. Less than 20 miles of dirt, where it also ran great.

Anyway, trip average was 37.7 mpg.

High tank was 42.1 mpg, achieved in slow traffic on Monday morning; speeds were steady and in the 35 mpg avg range (it was a LONG morning...)

Low tank was 31.7 mpg, achieved (!) in hard running over several Sierra passes. This was mostly running the bike about as hard as I want to.

Anyway, would I like 50 mpg? Yep. Would I give up the current state of tune to get it? Nope.

I adjusted the tbs first then adjusted the tsp at 0.60 while the bike was warm.
It was out of spec near 0.69.

Bouboule, it's in the service manual. Si si, je t'assure. C'est la!

Downloading my first map to the 990 ECU

I'm wanting to change the stock map on my 2010 990 ADV to the stock 2011 ADV map. I've got TuneECU up and running and have connected it to my ECU for things like reading the stock map, adjusting the throttle cable and resetting error codes. Looking at the TuneECU website and the manual it looks like all I need to do is connect TuneECU to the bike, open the 2011 map file KM601EU1102001Map.hex and select download. The go through the 15 minute reset.

What has me a little confused is the posts here about coping maps. Do I need to copy all the 2011 maps to my saved standard map before downloading or just open the 2011 map and download.

Coping map tables is needed when maps are not compatible. In you case just open the 2011 map and download it.

Better yet, open the map, go to the second throttle map, open the 2nd throttle at high rpms and large throttle openings (where it closes back down in the uppper right of the map), and et viola! R map.

Then download that puppy.
