It's more of a French thing.

That said, my guess would be possibly structural/power limitations with that design? Maybe cost/maintenace reason. We don't use them on our larger aircraft. Not sure why.

Today, the City of Santa Cruz said goodbye to two police officers killed while interviewing a suspect. The memorial service was held in San Jose at the HP Pavilion. You can read more here.

A final part of the service was the missing man formation flown by several different agencies. Here are a couple of shots as they held over the house today.

Not certain it was the exact same one, but I just photograped an EC-175 at our HQ doing a dog and pony show, and it looked like that one but with the red stripe gone. Still experimental so sure they only have one making the rounds. They probably removed the stripe so as not to have the full Bristow look before bringing it to show our big dogs.

Strange, when it came through here it had the stripe, but it didn't have the Bristow logo on the side.

I just compared my photo to the ones here, and it is definitely the same one. Has the same number up on the cowling. I guess they didn't want to show a Bristow painted aircraft to my company.
