She's a fugly beast, but I'd do a branch transfer on the spot if some one would let me fly one of those bad boys.

Just saw this video clip.

Pilot Dan Clark flies a helicopter to retrieve Christmas trees at the Noble Mountain Christmas Tree Farm in Oregon. This pilot's speed and precision while loading and unloading cargo practically ignores the resistance effects of inertia.

Amazing!

Rookie commercial pilot here; had an opportunity to fly 2.7 hours dual time with the chief pilot yesterday. Learned TONS about operational flying. Taken in the bush north of Fort St. John, BC.

Yep; in fact all our machines do - you should see how much mud this low timer scrubs off of 'em in the summer!

Even so, the snow was so unconsolidated and low density that we punched right through to ground. It *is* nice that our engineers just swapped that machine from low to high skid gear.

In Belgium, a medical helicopter had landed in the middle of a town and wasn't able to leave due to a technical problem.

People then helped it push throught the streets to the nearest fire station.

Got in a half hour NVG flight this morning so we could standby for an early launch of Spaceship 2.

It amazes me that they can get both halves of White Knight 2 to land at the same time.

I imagine form flight is a hell of a lot easier when you're sharing a wing.

After the flight we talked to one of the flight engineers while they were servicing both aircraft. He explained that the flight control systems were about as advanced as a Cessna 172; just cables and push tubes. They can set up the left fuselage to mimic the interior of the spaceship so customers can get a taste of zero G flight and acceleration forces. The whole operation is pretty low key and they are fine with folks just looking and taking pictures. Afterwards everyone filters over to the little airport diner and has breakfast. Things change when Branson and the other billionaires show up but for the test flights it's a pretty relaxed atmosphere. I think our involvement will end pretty soon but we've had the opportunity to be here from the beginning with Spaceship 1 and the X-Prize. It has been fun watching history unfold in front of us.

Space Ship 2 up on jacks

Breakfast crowd. There's one guy that's recognizable.......
